I've had several warnings that went away upon restart on my 981.

It did not go away even after sitting all day once I got to work. In fact I had a small icon in the lower right corner, that remained there. It looked like a 4wd icon in yellow. The dealer tried to reset it also and it came back.

[QUOTE=rai;14254299]I'm curious why?

I am just debating to get a 911 and pondering

S v GTS
RWD v AWD
MT v PDK

there's a lot of room to think.

I do live in a snowy area, but likely will keep my Subaru as a second car, so 911 likely won't see the snow.

however rain etc.. will still be something, but I did live ok with M3 as my only car at one time with snow tires.[/QUOTE

It's a matter of choice. I love the way my C4s handles. There are people on here that want to feel the oversteer I guess of a "traditional" RWD. My car, when it was working, handled like it was on rails even in the rain and gets off the line with no wheel spin. Again it's a choice. I have driven RWD Porsche's and like the feel of AWD better.

the RWD OR AWD is just a preference thing

Update nobody can figure it out (which BTW I find interesting). They worked on it all day today and nobody has ever seen this happen on a 991 or what to do about it. They are consulting with PNA.
Keep you all posted.

watching this closely, thanks for the update. I have 6 mos warranty left so it would be great to know about anything that needs to be double checked before that ends

which AWD do you have a C4? C4S? Turbo?

None of the hundreds of viewers of the 991 forum have chimed in that it's happened to them. None of the service people, who've presumably worked on hundreds of 911 4's at his dealership have seen this happen. While it's unfortunate for the OP and I'm not implying that you shouldn't have the part looked at before your warranty expires, it doesn't sound like something to be overly worried about.

OK just got a call from my SR. He says after all this it's a module ? Really took all this time to figure that out/ He states the tread on my tires is getting near the end and that MAY have contributed to it going. And tried to sell me tires. WOW.

Thanks for the followup.

Really?

I have worn my rear tires down to the wear bars with no issues except to have a grin on my face when I knowingly make my car drift a bit in the corners.

Its well known. 4mm less rubber makes the aero all upset and the wind blows onto the mudule at just an awkward angle.

Totally your fault for driving the car in the first place. Warranty denied.

That's what I really felt he was trying to tell me. I feel like posting the name of the dealership but most of the guys their, service techs., that do the actual work and get their hands dirty are good guys. So I wont The service advisors on the other hand I feel are constantly trying to upsell. And yes I get it they are trying to make money, but DON'T take me for an idiot. It's insulting.

Definitely not the stupidest thing I've ever had a service advisor try to tell me. Not even close. Which is sad, because that's a pretty stupid statement he made.

After replacing the module car STILL throwing the same code. After all that SR just called me and told me his bets service tech. found a nest and a dead mouse and that apparently chewed part of the wiring.
Resulting in 10 hours of labor to fix about $1600. I hope that mouse enjoyed it. Anybody else have a problem with chewed wires? won't have the car back for 3 days now. To say I am pissed is an understatement.
