Default 4 post lift clearance

Hi guys... I am considering a Direct-Lift PP-8 4-post-lift for my home garage to add a parking space. The car I will place on top has a 75" track width at the rear (991.1-GTS measured outside tire to outside tire). Direct states the ramps are 75" wide so assuming I'm not 100% accurate in alignment I'll be over a bit on one side or the other. While the post ID clearance is 94" (19 greater than the ramp width) I thon that there are some triangle pieces that the cable pass through that encroach upon the ramps from the posts. The question is: What is the actual width clearance between the triangles so I hit a tire or wheel?

I know I could go with the PP-9+ but it is a whapping 15" wider and that will crowd my other side of my dual bay garage.

Thanks in advance.

991.2 Targa 4S here...store it on my PP-8 over the winter months no problem. You'll be fine.

How high a garage does one need for this? Assuming sports car above & below.

I have a 991 Targa 4 GTS which I also store on a Direct lift. From the OP description I must have a PP-8 model as well. I can take and post a picture tonight if that would be helpful. I have an extra 1-2" on the ramp width, and there's probably another 2" outside the ramps on either side for the cable housing. There's a fair amount of wiggle room. I use the side mirrors to ensure I'm relatively centered.

Thanks all...

I'm on the fence between Direct, Quality, and BendPak.

Regarding the ceiling height required, the easy calculation is car-1-height + car-2-height + 6" minimum. And remember that depending upon lift manufacturer the lock positions are 3"-5" apart so to be safe I would add that in as well.

I think with your height calculation you might be very very tight.... remember you need to allow for the thickness of the runways, plus some space between the car on the bottom and the bottom of the runways and then you need some room over the car at the top because you will have to raise above your target to then lower it to hit the locks which, as you correctly state, are 3-5"" apart. I have recently installed mine as per the picture. When working it all out, I used car-1-height + car-2- height + 1 foot.
Good luck

Im on fence too. Benpak vs direct lift.

no air needed on direct lift so i may go this direction.

Yes, I found out two days before installation that I needed an air compressor (sold separately) to operate the BendPak lift.... it does come handy to inflate tires... but still.... anyways, it is good to be aware.

Nice problem to have, LCW. Do you have any stops bolted or welded to the posts to keep from raising too far? Would hate to think about a really bad day due to a moments distraction.

I marked the post with tape with two markings. One for how far I should raise the lift and the second (lower) for where it should rest after hitting the locks.
