Default Brake pads on 991S

I do about 3-4 DEs per year. I'm running stock Porsche brake pads and find they are about as durable as tissue paper. My 997S could easily do 4 DEs per year before replacing. They wore like iron. What's the deal with the pads for 991s? Anyone know?

What other pads are you using for street and track with better wear and no annoying screech?

Pagids are good, just noisy.

Thanks.

I'll subscribe just in case somebody found that ever elusive magic compound.

I had the same experience this past weekend, just 2 track days (and I'm slow, in green/beginner group) and OEM pads completely melted and disintegrated.

The pad you are looking for is the endless me20. Great on track and off. A bit aggressive on the rotors but quiet off the track.

Its a vicious cycle. Changing to a more aggressive pad like the Pagid RS will solve the problem. Unfortunately, you will now create a rotor problem. I find that rotors start cracking after 6-8 track days. After the cracks start, I get about two more days.

They don't seem to have a US distributor?

Is there something (better than OEM) for mixed use that won't eat the rotors or squeak on street?

I am having fairly good luck with the OEM pads on the street and track. I have tracked my car at least 6, 2-day HPDEs and have nearly 10,000 miles and I am finally needing new pads (mostly the rears as the fronts still have good wear but want to replace all of them). I run with the second fastest run group so I am pretty aggressive with the brakes and I have not burned through my pads. Now, on my highly modified Golf R with a BBK, I have burned through Hawks and iSweep pads (destroyed my rotors). Anyway, any further suggestions on street to track pads? I mostly use my Golf R for track days but still plan on 2-3 events/year in my GTS.

“tissue paper” ha ha. good one. This is how I feel. 1 track day and lots of spirited back country driving killed mine in 7,000 miles. I’ve heard that PSM will activate rears for stability “all the time.” Likely a part of how Porsche “engineered out” the rear engined RWD paradox. This is happening even when the PSM light is dark. Time to disable PSM on the track and improve my driving.

also I hear this solves the mystery of the rear brake pads wearing out sooner reports.
