Default 991.1 GTS Lease end advice

Have a dealer offering me a manual transmission 2018 GT3 build slot in this coming sept/oct.

Wanted to hear everyone's thoughts on DD'ing a manual gt3.
There was a great review posted the other day, just hoping for more input.

Currently in a '16 GTS4 7 spd. Love the car and wondering if the swap will be livable in outer NYC area.

Lease ends may 2017, should I buy out at lease end??

Figure i'd make some small mods (gloss black door handles, carbon fiber mirror caps, vacuum tube clip for open valves, BMC drop in's, etc) and place myself in the normal GT3 queue and not pay the sticker + 30 for an early build? Any other small mods recommended?

Should I take the take the 30k dealer bait?

Do you gents feel eventually 1.5-2 years down I'll be able to queue in for a manual build slot without paying dealer markup if I don't pull the trigger now?

Thanks

Nobody outside of the media has one yet so....

That being said - the propaganda says its the least harsh for the streets GT3 yet.

You'll likely be fine. Take the car regardless and decide what you want to do after.

I'd keep the 2016 GTS.

Why would you buy out a lease that ended last month?

I'd say the price of the 2018 GT3 will depend on the economy in 2 years. You may get a better deal if we are in a recession (demand decreases).

My mistake, lease ends may '18.
Any other suggestions to mod though if I keep her?

Best financial move would probably be to buy it out, depending on how your state is with sales tax and what the actual value is at lease end. One of the only ways to buy a car without the dealer making money on it.

I would keep the GTS. Its such an versatile awesome sports car. GT3 would be amazing too but less practical.

Correct - will be the best "value" given it's been taken care of and one of the best 911's ever made.

Check pricing on your car by looking at current pricing on cars like yours but are a year older (to approximate what your car might be worth next year). If your lease is Porsche Financial, it's likely that the buyout is thousands of dollars under the market, meaning buying out at lease end could be attractive.

If offered a slot on a GT3, I'd take it if I were you.

go read the evo review for more on the GT3's streetability - I personally would not *ever* go over MSRP under any circumstances, its just not worth
lining the dealers pockets...

as for buying your GTS, question is, is it a deal, i.e is your buyout above or below market value, and if you dont buy it, what would you replace it with?

Also, wrt getting a GT3 later, based on past schedules, GT3 production will probably only last about 18-24 months, so
I would expect production to end around 1H2019 ... there is usually a drop in demand and then a surge at the end
so timing that lull between between the initial rush and the end of production can be a challenge...

Also note that the GT3 is already super over subscribed, my local dealer has a waitlist of over 40 ... he'll be lucky to get 1/2 that in allocations... but I still would not pay over MSRP for one.

NYC roads are so horrendous that I cringe every time I have to drive through - and that's w a C4S. I'm not sure what Evo said about streetability of a GT3 but I'm gonna say no it's probably a bad idea.

I think the most optimal thing to do is you take the GT3, and move out of the city

I am in a similar situation. Although I do not have an ironclad allocation for a 991.2 GT3, my dealership is confident that I will be able to get one if I would like - for sticker plus $15k.

The 991.2 GT3 looks and sounds like an amazing car but I am very happy with my 2016 GTS cab. At the moment, I am leaning toward getting the GT3 and buying the GTS at the end of its lease. That would give me the best of both worlds - a daily driver cab with PDK and a beast manual GT3 for weekends and for occasional daily driving.

I will arrange a date at PEC LA to try out the 991.1 GT3. I would prefer to kick the tires of a 991.2 GT3 but that ain't going to happen.

Please keep us posted on what you ultimately decide to do, as I will do as well.

me2, although I will probably sell my 7.2 GT3 to make room for the 991.2

what have you done so far?

I'd suggest:
- cobb accessport tune
- AWE switchpath exhaust
- aerokit cup front splitter (requires painting)
- SmartTOP if you have a cabriolet

all of which you can remove with relative ease if you decide to return it...
