Hey all,
Anything stand out on this? Would PPI of course at a reputable indy.
I notice the transmission was removed and reinstalled. Red flag? Thanks everyone.

Quite a few things were replaced on this car which sounds odd to me. Electrical Gremlins? I would contact the dealer who did the work and ask what's up or see if the paperwork is in the car.

I suppose the price drew me to it - they have it listed at $53k now and are totally open to a PPI.
I thought about getting a warranty with the savings on the price....but I think I'm hearing you guys say "RUN!"

Just do all your home work.
You got all the contact info. Doesn't cost anything to do few calls.
Who ever is selling should want to help get all the info from the dealer if the dealer won't give it up freely.
If not BUYER BEWARE.

I would look at instrument electrical problems and roof problems. Did the roof leak causing the electrical issues from water damage Headline replaced sunroof worked on)? 1st year in the model run always a bad idea. Tranny being removed probably a seal but why would a seal in a 4 year old car go bad. To many things here for me but if you work on cars...

I think every indication points to more problems down the road if it's already had this many already. I'll pass. I really appreciate everyone's advice and input.

Looks like it had two ongoing repair dramas: 1) sunroof and water leakage, and 2) instrument panel gremlins. The rest of the history looks normal. I'd try to get some clarity on what was fixed. Could be a good deal on a car that's now sorted out.
It's a nicely optioned car -- but price is still too high for a base Carrera with 50K miles on it.

Could the transmission been removed to put in a new clutch? Seems like the parts listed (besides a clutch) would be preventive once you are in there changing a clutch (ie. Slave cylinder).

I just sold a 2012 SLK-350, I had it since new. It was a private sale. It had only 5 Serivce Events, just a once per year standard service by the dealer. Mind you it only had about 12,000 miles on the clock. I have multiple cars/trucks, so any given vehicle does not see a lot of road time. I know this is not and apples to apples comparison. 50K in 5 years is not a huge number if it was a DD. But the high number of service events would concern me.

I reached out to the car dealer to see if they could reach out to the Porsche dealer to get the story, or at least give me permission to discuss the records on the vehicle. I don't know...it seems like I'm better off looking at a 997.2 S with comparable miles for similar or less price. I just really don't want the liability of electrical issues not covered under warranty.

Listen, as a guy who has bought way too many first year cars, you don't want this car. If you are stretching to reach this price point, get a nice 997 and a warranty within your budget. 997's are fantastic cars.
