Default Yellowing Clear Wrap

No idea if it is as bad as I think it is, but I notice yesterday that my front clear wrap is yellowing right behind front tires. This could be very small amount and I am just imagining it being butter colored, while the rest of the car is milk.

I have no idea what film was used, as I am the second owner. Is there a way to clean this or do I just need to remove it? Wasn't sure if Oxyclean or something like that could be used.

what is yellowing is the glue and not the clear plastic, thus rubbing as hard as you can on the clear bra or using every type of cleaner on it will not get rid of the yellowing.

The OEM ones made by 3M yellow coming out of the factory practically. Most noticeable on white or light colored cars.

XPEL sells ones that are slightly larger and precut kits too or an installer can use their software to produce them.

Just get them replaced.

OP is talking front of car, not the ones in front of the rear tire.

That area (behind front tires) is also suspect to tire dressing (gets flung onto film) and accelerates the yellowing.

I use theChemical Guys dressing also. Goes on and dries quickly.

How long has the film been on.? Do you garage the car?

That mixed with brake dust us usually the cause. Using wax on the film can cause yellowing on white cars too, look at your wax bottle around the cap and you will see its all caked yellow looking.

Try Westley's Bleach White white wall tire cleaner next time you wash the car. Spray it on while there is soapy water on the area and let it sit a minute and wipe it off with a micro fiber towel. Might take a few washes to get it to start looking better. Kind of like washing a yellowed t-shirt in bleach, it takes a few washes to get whiter.

Yes - but they also do a poor job of protecting. So glad I ponied up for the entire panels to be covered! Highly recommend this.

First thing I did was remove the factory ones on my GTS, covered the whole panel and then put a new one back in the same place. Been doing this for years mainly to help protect the big piece of film on the rear fender. It's much cheaper to replace the factory look a like piece when it takes hits then let the expensive bit take all the impacts.

Also noticed the pieces put on at the factory are now much thinner than the old ones, probably only 6 mil instead of the 20 mil pieces from the past.

you can peel the factory one off and not affect the underlaying film?
