I cringed when I read that dealer post as well. Using the wrong form of "your" was somewhat problematic but the comment itself was deplorable.
The dealer is always in COMPLETE control of whether or not a potential client purchases the car from them or not. If you can show knowledge, value-add, integrity and meet their price the sale is yours.
Silly comment.

I have a guy at Porsche of Tysons in the DC area if you get down this way. He is excellent, no pressure, will work with you to make it happen, and doesn't play games. They have some MT's in stock as well.

Thanks for all of your replies. My brother lives in NJ so RC is a local dealer. I’m frankly dumbfounded by the “shopping” comment as well. More on that after our visit.

God forbid a buyer does that to a dealer. Especially a sensitive entitled precious Porcshe one.
How many Porsche dealers in the USA?? Around 200. Yeah, you can shop around.

Unfortunately, that's the attitude many have.
Walked into a Porsche of Scottsdale like a year ago passed like five guys staring at their computer screens that never even looked up to ask me if I needed help.
And this is with spending like half an hour in the showroom. They had a 918 and a GT3RS that were interesting to look at.

My initial experience with a Porsche dealership was awful, I must say. It was at Len Stoler in Baltimore. They had advertised a great deal on a Cayman at their dealership. So I went there, test drove it, and said okay, let's do the deal. Well, they wouldn't do that deal. The deal they could do was quite a bit more per month on a lease. That was a hike for me to get up there, so I decided to haggle with them. I got them down a bit, but not to their advertised deal. So I decided to go to Porsche of Tysons and met my SA there. He was great. I was up front and told him what had happened, and he made a similar deal with me on a better optioned car (so it was a bit more/month). When i decided to do the early lease trade-in program to move into a 911, he offered me what he called a "preferred customer" deal that I thought was great. When ordering my car, I had some technical questions so he brought in the service manager to help me select my options. At any point in the process I felt that I could have bailed and stayed with the Cayman. This is a busy dealership - I mean they move a lot of cars. But every time I go in, if he sees me, he gets up from his desk and chats with me.
By the way, Len Stoler sent me a plethora of text messages trying to get me to come back in, and finally offered BELOW the advertised deal. I wrote a letter to Porsche USA and never heard back. I don't think they really care about customer relations all that much. It's "build it and they will come".

They're trying. Won't be easy. They have many deep set hurdles to get over. Many dealership cultures prevail over what the brands they represent want. That's the main issue here. How each franchised dealer conducts business.

By chance I was looking at what they have in stock last night and saw that they had at least 3 or 4 MT cars in stock.
They have a fast moving inventory because they are running a dealership not a museum. Highly recommended.

I would not buy at Ray Catena personally.
However if they have the right car at the right price that's a different story. From my experience they will not have the right price. You can always test drive the cars at Ray Catena easily without issue.
If you need a reasonable contact at the following dealers let me know by PM.
Ray Catena
Princeton
Cherry Hill
Good Luck
