Escort Max 360 CI Installed

I wouldn't say is "absurd" pricing myself, but of course that's all relative to the value you can personally justify in the product. I think the pricing is right on par for the best performing, reliable, and well built radar/laser system on the market — of course, now they need to prove it can be just that
Escort has been the most reliable and livable radar detectors for the past decade. There are higher-performing systems, but nothing that's more "well rounded" in my opinion. That's why this is such a blow, we expected much more out of a company with this type of reputation. Worse, we were promised more....

I can see your position there, and I completely agree that you shouldn't pay more for less – that's just nonsense. What I'm saying is that if they can get the performance to a level that rivals the competition, they have some proprietary features to their systems that nobody else has. At the end of the day, it all comes down to relative value. For some folks, paying the premium Price for a Porsche doesn't make any sense.

Hi Stealth,
I'm buying the MaxCi360 with the shifters but not installing them. Basically, I'm just going to use the radar components and not plug in the laser sensors/jammers. Don't think Escort sells the radar without the shifters though.

Maxci360 has more than a month ago been updated to catch the latest dragon eye laser guns. So you may want to install the shifters. I waited and am getting maxci360 installed

Nick - at this point is it possible to get the Escort 360CI without the laser shifters, i.e. to pair it up with ALP shifters? I know you're installing this for one of the other members, but it wasn't clear if you have to install and hide the escort shifters, or if you can run the CI 360 without any shifters, and even buy it without shifters?
The problem is that Escort has no real control over the laser, they sub out the tech and production their to another company. A company that has thus-far proven that they can't handle the proverbial heat.

Thanks Nick.
Joe, I'm happy to stick with ALPs. They have been pretty reliable for me and with the addition of a new TX head, Escort won't be able to touch it. ALP's are now able to run 5 regular head plus a 6th TX head using a splitter.

As of now(and for the foreseeable future says Escort) the MAX CI systems are only sold with laser jammers. Their Beltronics brand used to be the "radar-only" version of the CI system in the past, but word from the inside says that BEL won't get this new technology and will end up being a windshield-mount only subsidy. That said, there is talk of another CI option in the next year, but it will tier below the MAX system.
Says Escort... They also deny any real problems with the laser out of the gate and won't publish any videos/documentation stating it works. Unfortunately we can't trust them on their word, so we'll need to see the proof before making the switch. Sure hope it works, but I'm not willing to let our customers be the guinea pigs there.

And Antilaser USA offers a great laser system, but a second rate radar option with no display, no automatic lockouts and inferior filtering to Escorts (and i say this as a current Net Radar user).
So you end up forced to pay through the teeth for both.

What I find really frustrating is that Escort insists on bundling their top notch radar system with a suboptimal laser system.

Stealth - have you looked into the Radenso HD remote detectors? They plug into the ALP CPU to make for a seamless transition. Reviews have been pretty good. Sell your Net and try the Radenso.

Radenso have for a while promised a more advanced installed detector with directional alerts, dual antennas, auto-lockout just like Escort. However it seems to be vaporware - they originally promised it would be out last fall, and the date keeps slipping. It seems they have prioritized the windshield market.

It seems we can't fit the TX head on the front of our cars because it requires mounting more than 20" above the ground.

What would you recommend for radar and laser ?

If price was of no concern, I would purchase a MAX CI and ditch the laser for an ALP System. Of course, that's not always the case, so what we've been doing locally is using what's remaining of the BEL STiR+ stock and packaging that with ALP. We don't get the IVT filtering of the new Escort platform, but we still get all the great GPS lockouts and speed sensitivity with a saving of over $1k....
If you had to get something that's in full production right now, it's tough to say. We're really in a state of limbo with all this going on. Personally, I would run an ALP System and a portable temporarily until somebody came out with a real radar solution.

Breaking the bad news?!
I hate to be the one to bring this to your attention, but I would feel worse not doing so. We probably do more radar/laser than anyone in the Pacific Northwest and we have decided not to offer the MAX CI units until they make some major changes. As of now, it's the most expensive all-in-one unit(outside of the ridiculous price for Stinger radar/laser) and it's nowhere close to the top performing. They have a lot of explaining to do and answers to provide.

We've seen numerous private tests outside of this channel with the same results. Sad news.

This report was from over a year ago . I heard that Escort has updated their maxci to offeset dragon eye. Also the installation include alp with maxci360? Unless escort has not updated ? Please verify.
