Escort Max 360 CI Installed

8 Attachment(s)
As some of you know I recently picked up my new 991.2 C4S. Knowing that the car was coming in I called Joe at Extreme Mobile Sounds, who had hardwired V1's, and installed and Escort 9500 CI into my previous cars. I asked his opinion what was the best setup available and he thought I should give the new Escort Max 360 CI a shot. I also decided to have him install Suntek PPF clear bra. So after pulling some strings he finally got the Max 360, as its on national back order because Escort just launched it earlier this month. Apparently it's important to power the system up in pre-install to "burn" it in for about 30 minutes. According to Escort this alleviates a lot of the false reading etc. Having worked with Joe in the past he knew I am pretty particular in the placement of the control unit and the display screen, so when it came time to install those he called me, being the in the area I stopped into his shop and we decided to install the control unit into the ashtray of the smokers package. This makes for a real clean look especially with the lid closed. Also, given the size of the OLED display unit it was pretty difficult to find a good spot to install it. We ended up going with a custom mount just in front of the homelink garage door transmitter buttons. I've included pics of the install below, enjoy!

Saw this on their Instagram. Congrats. I'm going over on Wednesday to discuss this and have a few things installed.

How many labor hours did EMS charge you?

Awesome. Subscribed to hear how you like it. Install looks great.

Looks like they did a great job. I have to drive 2 hours just to be in an area where these types of service are performed (at least if you want it done right).

Looks good. I'm also interested in cost, because there's a shop locally that'll install, but it was over $5,000 for a 9500 install (which is obnoxious for a unit that was under $2k).

EMS quoted me $2200 for the 9500 install, so I'd imagine the 360 will be more reasonable.

I considered EMS when I was looking around for an installer but their Instagram full of K40 installs turned me off a bit, so I went with a different (higher price point) installer instead. If EMS can do good quality work on 991s I'd be interested in using them in the future.

We hope to have these in in the first order our distributor gets in around 2 weeks. Can't wait to get started on them! :D

Those install costs sound ridiculous -- unless these other detectors require a much more involved install. I've had the Escort 8500ci Plus with laser shifters installed in each of my 991's and labor has been $800-1,000.

Any pics with wires highlighted?

Looks great! This will be my system when I pick up my next car. FYI, I understand that you'll want the "bubbles" on the shifters facing in. I had the 9500ci on my F80 M3 and someone noted the same. Perhaps Escort changed this...

"As far as your Laser Shifter Pro install is concerned, the "bubble" on the jammer heads needs to point towards the center of the vehicle. This is because that is the receive diode, and on the opposite end is the transmit diode. You want the transmit diode to have maximum beam dispersion left to right on the vehicle to cover all of the reflective surfaces. The best targets for law enforcement is Front/Rear license plate, then headlights/taillights. If there are any holes in your setup, they will punch through and get a reading."

I was there today and Joe quoted me $4500 for the installation of the Max 360 CI once he gets them back in stock. As many have said, it's on national backorder.

Joe charged me $4500 for the unit and installation. The unit itself is going for $3500 online, https://www.radarbusters.com/Escort-...max-ci-360.htm, although escort is claiming to only offer it through installers.

Early impressions? Memorial Day weekend coming up, I'm sure a few of us will be on the road and this is something we are considering.
