I'm not sure how much extra camber you need but you can definitely adjust camber on the stock car.

I'm surprised to learn how others maintain their car when bringing it on track. Personally I replace the brake fluid and change the engine oil before every event. After, I usually will just bleed the brakes but sometimes I'll replace the fluid if the track is especially demanding on brakes. Maybe I'm just particular (or especially hard driving) but the difference after cooking the fluid all day is significant.

OK, since this thread is about tracking our 991S, I would like to ask some advice.

I've been think the Pagid RS29 pads instead of the stock pads, but I do drive my car about 2-3 times/week. Is it OK to leaving the Pagid on the car for street? Is it really noisy? My stock pads lasted me about 5 track days only, and I'm thinking should I sticks with the stock or get the Pagid and just swap back to stock in colder months....

I have the RS29s and leave them on for the street. Once you experience the added bite and performance of these (except when cold), it's hard to want to switch back to stock pads. They are noisy but only when creeping along at slow speeds or just before coming to a complete stop. So if you do a lot of stop and go in heavy traffic, they could get irritating and embarrassing. If you're able get in a few hard stops beforehand to warm them up, it sometimes reduces or eliminates the slow speed squeal for a while. You'll find yourself adjusting your daily braking patterns to minimize any squeal. Also, make sure you have a good wax or protectant on your wheels as the brake dust is said to be a little harsher on the finish. Or just try to wash your wheels a little more frequently. Personally, I never had an issue with this.

It's sometimes funny to watch the reactions of other drivers as they wonder whether it's their car making the noise. You can see them checking or listening to whether it's coming from their car. Also, if you're in traffic with a large truck or bus, then you're ok because they make the same noise so everyone will just assume it's them and you'll blend in!

Re: RonD's post on Potenza RE-71R 19" tires:

I too am considering the 255/35/19 and 305/30/19 RE71R tires. My concern is related to the tire diameter being 0.8" smaller than stock tire set up....what impact will that have on handling on track?

I use Pagid RS29 on my C2S on track and they work & wear great. When I get lazy and leave them installed between track days, EVERYONE notices how much my brakes squeal. I ignore it for the little that I drive my car on the street (not a DD), but as a DD or if I did more than ~1000mi per year on the street, I would switch back to OEM pads for street driving more often.

I love the RS29's for the track but can't live with the squeal on the street. I change my pads for every track weekend. The Tarrett stainless caliper studs make the change easy, quick and safe.

Waiting on the wheels. Should be here by the end of May. Hopefully I will have the 19” CH-R wheels and RE71R’s for my June 8 track day and will report back.

Nice choice! I did likewise with the CH-R's.

Hey there! Great to hear from you!

I use 245/40-19 and 295/35-19. This combo has worked well for me.

Cool. From the research I've done (thanks TireRack), the overall diameter of those tire sizes are the same as the stock 240/35-20 and 295/30-20 tires.

I have only found the 19" tire sizes you are using in the MPSS. The new PS4S does not have the 305/35-19 rear tire size. It seems none of the PSC2 and RE-71R (and R-888 etc) have the 305/35-19 either.

Curious what size tires you will use on those 19" wheels if you switch away from MPSS?

Good question, I haven't heard any feedback yet from anyone using the PS4S, which I thought would be my first choice. Maybe more sizes are coming? Luckily I have an new set of MPSS that should take me through the season.

Default Alignment

Just did a Laguna track day after having a more aggressive alignment done. The shop I use installed the Elephant Racing front lower control arms to increase negative camber. On the front we went with -2.7 and on the rear -2.4

On the track the car certainly felt good. It had better grip, especially during turn in. The G-meter went from a max peak of 1.64 to 1.70. The balance was good, it could both under steer or over steer depending on my steering/throttle inputs.

My lap time improved by less than a second, but I don’t recall having a clear lap with no traffic.

My car has spasm and pdcc and Cup2’s for now..

RonD - have you had a chance to track the 19" RE-71Rs yet? Curious how they performed!
