Watch out. That's almost blasphemaous talking like that here. Having said that, I did think about the Golf GTI but figured the FWD torque with a 4-banger would not be fast or fun enough for me. I'll have to test drive one to see I guess.

My budget is less than $40k. Therefore looking for preowned. I don't want to spend much at all on a kid transporter. My money went to my 911 and in a few years, I'll be trading it in for the future 992 Turbo (S) Cab - my dream car.

The cab is difficult. I fear that I will not be able to fit my kids (10, no booster and 7 with a seat bottom booster only) much longer. Shame, I will then have to upgrade to a GT3.

I agree. The Cab is different from the coupe in terms of back seat setup. Car seats just don't work well in the Cab.

If you are looking at an S6 maybe look at a CPO Audi S8. The seats are amazing, super luxurious, 520hp. If you chip it, with race gas you're running a 10 second quarter mile. Total sleeper. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCPoZlugAgo
I will have to check out the S4 as well. I like the S6. My 911 is a MT so would prefer an Auto since I'll have to deal with screaming and annoying kids in the backseat.

OT but Watch out for the Turbo S. I test drive one of my buds and yes it's nuclear fast but that doesn't mean it's better. I prefer my GTS. Still plenty fast but it takes a bit longer to get to 'go to jail' speed.

Back on topic - how about a Volvo station wagon. I suggest that because you may want to consider having a larger performance gap in between the 911 and your kid car. Might make for more exciting P car driving.

I have a 2.8L X3 as my daily. 4 cylinder turbo. Not fast. Great gas mileage. It makes the 911 feel that much more sporty and fast.

Me, I'd go for a 2018 Golf R, the one that is not in the US yet. Four doors, plus hatch, new for VW Golf 7-speed PDK/DSG. But, a CPO Audi A4/S4 may make more sense for you, particularly considering the need for a bit more storage area I think- all the stuff you have to bring with you for your kids. Good luck in your search, and let us know which car you finally get>

Again, Golf R.

I was looking pre-owned. Anything cheap enough to be reasonable was a ragged pile of crap.

I had a '15 S4 with DSG, and it was a great "sporty" sedan. You could haul two kids (forward facing), two adults, and gear for a weekend trip in an S4, or add a roof box for more hauling capacity.

You should be able to find a nice CPO S4 with your budget. Feel free to PM me if you have specific questions.
