I am about to purchase a 2013 Carrera. It is 1800 miles from my residence. One friend says ship it home because the road noise will make you deaf and the ride will make you stiff. Another says drive it home, the car is very comfortable. This is a 911 C2 with sport exhaust and PASM and 18 way
seats. Input??

If you dont care about adding mileage, drive it. I wish I had more opportunities to drive my car on a long road trip. My C2S is plenty comfortable and you can turn off the sports exhaust to give yourself a break.

The car only has 28K and recent maintenance, oil change, brake fliud, tires, etc. Thought this would be a great way to get introduced to my first Porsche

I say drive it. Life is too hectic these days.

Take the long way home, the one with windy roads. When do you have that kind of quality time alone to think, listen to great music, see stuff you have not seen, and get acquainted with your new car?

I'll add that I've done some 11 hour straight drives in my 2011 TTS cab. Extremely comfortable (18 way seats). Better than any non-P car I've owned in terms of seat comfort on long drive.

At 75 on the freeway in 7th, you'll barely even hear the exhaust. And if it's a PASM car, it'll be fine, particularly if you'll be on the interstate/decent highways. The only question is do you enjoy spending that much time in your car or not. Personally, unless there were some good side roads along the way and I had time to explore them, I'd ship it simply because I don't get any satisfaction just driving on the freeway.

Drove the 50th from TX to Fl then onto CT two years ago...aprox 2300 miles in 3 days. No problems and a superb road car. As mentioned above, take scenic secondary type roads, crank the tunes and go T

Drove my '15 GTS from FL to PA over a weekend. PASM Sport and 18 ways, PSE. It was an absolutely wonderful drive. I found the noise to not be a problem, and the 18-ways were remarkably comfortable. I didn't drive straight-through - 8 hours first day before stopping in Savannah GA for the night. Then rest of the way home GA to PA on Sunday with just pit stops. Great way to sort-out the car and make sure everything is functioning.... I say go for it!

I drive all over the country doing track days in my 991. It's amazingly comfortable. Drive it! Make a journal and send us pics along the way. What is your route? You could meet Rennlist friends along the way.
