Default 991S Troubling Car Fax

I just received the below Car Fax. I'm nervous about the frequency of the engine/powertrain computer checks. First one was at 17,887 miles. Then it looks like every 2k miles. I would run, however, the computer was replaced, and then no checks from 34k miles to 54k miles, just oil changes and the like. Should I pass on the car or go for it? Anyone else have experience with computer problems that were fixed? Is this common on the 991? I had a 997.2S for 2 years that ran like a top, until I just totaled it 2 weeks ago.

17k - Engine/Powertrain computer/module checked
- Horn Replaced
- Power Seat Replaced
- Seat or upholstery repaired

19k - Air filter Replaced
- Cooling system checked
- Engine Checked
- Engine/powertrain computer module checked

21k - air filter replaced
- computer reprogrammed
- engine checked
- Engine/powertrain computer module checked

28k - computer module replaced
- engine/powertrain computer module checked
- Instrument cluster reprogrammed

29k - vehicle serviced

32k - Engine/powertrain computer module checked
- four tires replaced
- leak detection pump replaced

34k - vehicle sold at auction

Thereafter is completely clean, standard oil change and tires all the way to 54k miles.

That car doesn't give me a warm fuzzy. Lots of them out there, I'd pass.

If it's been fixed I wouldn't immediately disqualify if everything else is right. Is it a CPO? Would also give you some respite. Is it common- no.

I think it ultimately sold at auction the last time because buyers such as yourself got spooked. Is there another reason why cars end up at auction?

Have a dealer run the VIN and see what else they can tell you about the warranty work that was done.

Would need to be a sweet deal, otherwise why risk it?

It had a faulty part and that part was replaced. It may be unrealistic to expect a 54K mile car to have never had a mechanical problem. And there's a big difference between a mechanical part needing replacement and a car being in an accident, after which body and paint work of potentially dubious quality was undertaken.

991's are pretty much bullet proof. I would definitely say move on to the next car.

Even if the car never has another issue, it would be hard not to be thinking about it all the time

I personally would pay a little more for peace of mind and an enjoyable ownership experience.

You ask the question because your gut is telling you the answer. Pass.
