Porsche Extended Warranty - Price Negotiation?

Porsche Extended Warranty - Price Negotiation?
Has anyone taken the Porsche 2 year unlimited mileage extended warranty on a new car? Were you able to get the dealer to drop the cost (In Canada its $5,000) and if so, how much were you able to save off the "retail" price?
I'm considering this and as the dealer was very tight on discount, I realize now that I should have used the deal/no deal position I had to negotiate a discount on this "extra".
I don't want it for $5,000 but I'd take it for $2,500 - $3,000.

I'm not sure. I guess I could check, but I think an additional 2 years is all I need. I think this is a 2 year car with a change to a different model when the 992 is released in a couple of years. I think I'd get the $2,500 back in improved resale value but, not $5,000 regardless of the number of years of extra warranty.

In the State of Florida Extended Warranty prices are fixed. My 991.1 2015 GTS has 10,000 miles. I was quoted the following on the Platinum Plan.
84 Months 100,000 miles $100 Dissapearing Deductible Retail Cost $6607
Dissapearing Deductible means that if you bring the car to the dealer there is no deductible.
I am planning on keeping the car forever. Do you guys think is worth the investment for someone who drives 7000 miles per year and does not track the car?

I was quoted 96 months (8 years) 80K miles for $4,900 for Fidelity Platinum extended warranty.
I am not interested in the usual dealer junk, but for the record this is what I was offered:
- Porsche Pre-paid maintenance 4 years for $3,600
- Wheel and tire insurance for $800 for 4 years (Free replacement tire if you get a flat, wheel scratch reapirs)
- Some paint protection plan for $750 for 4 years (They just spray chemicals inside and outside the car, and repair small dings / interior spills)
- Overpriced dealer PPF install at $2,300 (just go to local installers who charge $700 to $1400)
Does anyone have experience with these add-ons? The only thing I would consider getting is the Porsche prepaid maintenance but it seems to be same price as paying for 4 services individually.

I will be in the same position shortly as mine is a June delivery. I'm not sure about the 2 year warranty for $5K and I still need to go into the dealer to do the final paperwork and "meet the business manager". This part I'm dreading as I know it can be high pressure sales tactics. How was your experience?
Also, do you have your car now?

Most on here never keep their cars past the 4 year/50K warranty so paying for an extended warranty when you 1st buy the car is ridiculous.
Drive it for a year or 2 then decide..... the extended warranty price does not seem to differ.
I bought my 13 C4S in 14 CPO'ed with 2700 miles on the clock...... currently at 61K with zero warranty issues...... still have 39K of warranty left.

That's kind of like saying if you can afford the car than you can afford the gas. Personally, just because I can afford something doesn't mean that I want to pay more than I have to for it. Maybe I'm just strange that way.

My experience with extended warranties is that they are a waste of money. But back to your question, warranty prices are negotiable -- I've negotiated lower prices, twice at Porsche dealers (one was through Fidelity and the other through Zurich). Not sure of Canadian pricing practices.
When I took delivery last November of a 991.2 Turbo, there was no pressure to take any plans -- had to initial and decline each line item. It was like a menu including choices for maintenance and warranty, not to mention wheel and tire insurance. The menu was very comprehensive and very expensive. I declined everything.

I'm not saying you shouldn't get a good price for the warranty. I'm just saying extended warranties in general are bad deals.

My car recently turned 4 years old so the warranty expired and I had to determine if it was going to buy an extended warranty. Went to the lead mechanic at 2 Porsche dealerships and asked if there were any chronic problems with the cars that I should watch out for and would justify getting an extended warranty. Remember, if you buy an extended warranty from a dealer you are likely to bring it to them for repairs and probably regular service as well so they have a long term financial interest in your buying the warranty. Both mechanics said that the 991s had no recurring problems which would be an expense of significance to repair so I chose not to buy an extended warranty.
