Anyone driven a C2 991 base cab (7MT)? How does it compare to the 991 Coupe on tight, twisty roads, as well as for acceleration? I gather it is a bit heavier: 150lbs or so? What downsizes are there to owning a cab from a performance standpoint?

Wifey says the next car should be open-top. Also considering a 981 Boxster S, but I have a feeling that there aren't that many buyers for 991 7MT cabs floating around, if we can find one. Tons of 6MT Boxsters on the market, for not much less $.

Having jumped between both coupes and cabs I'm not sure I notice a difference in the 991 chassis at all. Even if there is the open top is more than worth it if there is any difference.

Unless you're Walter Rohrl, the only downside is sunburn.

Listen to the wife.

You will NOT find many 7MT 991s.....even less so in cabriolet dress, and less again in base form.

You won't be able to tell.

SPASM not available in Cab form though if you must have SPASM.

The 991 Cab is the best Cab vs Coupe Porsche has ever had. The Cab specific advances are a greater leap than even the platform leap.

Also - I had to pick up a chair last week that wouldn't fit in my 5 series.... Top down and the Cab can double as a pick up truck to haul furniture for short distances!

I had two 991 cabs in a row before buying this latest coupe. You will not notice any difference at all. Handles the same as the coupe. As the others mentioned it's going to be a long search. Manuals are few and only a few of these few are cabs. They are out there though. It's worth it to wait for the right one. Don't settle for a PDK. The manual is awesome.

Your wife knows that drop top owners make better lovers!

Handling - you may be able to tell a difference between the cab and coupe but its inconsequential. I have not missed driving a coupe from a handling perspective.

In my search, I saw more 991.2 base cabs than 991.1 base cabs with MT. Actually, I'd rather have a base 991.2 than a base 991.1. Although subjective, the 991.2 base is a better car than a 991.1 base.
