New 911 GTS Owner

Good question, I guess there's likely to be a little rubbing but I haven't read about this being a big concern and I haven't yet tried it out myself. Someone who has done frequent removals can probably chime in on whether the finish has been affected.

SmartTOP was pretty easy, took about 20min total. That includes testing it out. Only real snag was at first figuring how locking clip worked. A simple look at supplied clip provided ahhhaa moment for me.

Mine is 17 months old. Wheels still look new @ 16,000 miles. Still same tires too but no auto-x'ing yet.
Just had ceramic pro put on wheels. Will let you know but have high hopes. Have on our other cars and it made me a believer whereas I thought it was hooey before (any coating). Tough to explain. Like whole car has thin layer of glass.

Awesome...where in there did you place the actual smartTOP unit? I couldn't tell from the pictures where to action stick it?

Steve,
I have a Carmine Red 2015 GTS as well, and I have to say, the wheels are without question the biggest time consumer to do well. The wheel removal process mentioned in an earlier thread is a worthwhile task, but, it too is time consuming and a significant process to get everything re-torqued, lubricated as required etc. How much time the Satin finish wheels will require, depends a lot on whether you plan to do the inner lip of the rim .....or just the spoke area. I suggest doing the inner rim as well with a coating like Dr Beasley's or the Turtle Black Wax Detailer Spray. Not the pre-cleaner or the wax itself as it has fillers that will alter the finish and make it glossier. The detailing spray won't in my experience. After the car is washed, you will notice that a lot of rust colored water will drain out of the rotors, even if you use pressurized air and spray them off, it will still drain out a bit. SO....if you have a coating in there, it makes clean up of those spots a heck of a lot easier. It can be done without removing the wheel, IF you hand(s) are small enough or flexible enough. Sorry for the novel.......by the way, nice looking car man.
