I too am looking at either the escort max 360 xi detector and Jammer or the stinger VIP detector and jammer. Anyone know of a great installer as I want the best I can find for my new turbo. Was 99% ready to go escort when I read the issues with it not jamming the latest lasers. Can't find anyone that installs stinger.
Have you looked through Stinger's website in their installed pictures section? Shows examples and shops that did the installs. If you are heading to Oregon, maybe you could contact Nick from Musicar. They do great work and I'm sure they would be able to seamlessly integrate a Stinger VIP system for you. They really do top notch work.
To be honest, I wouldn't recommend the Stinger VIP. They have had a lot of reliability issues and cost the most out of all of the systems. I would recommend using the Escort MaxCi360 combined with an ALP system. That's the system I am going with personally. Nick at Musicar NW is putting it together for me and should have everything ready for install sometime next week.

If I am going fast I run Waze in addition to the 9500ix. Together they work very well. Additionally I have a cop shield as a backup which works well in NY as well (I suppose things are a bit more corrupt here).
I would highly recommend NOT speeding if you are not running Waze in addition. The crowd sourced info with millions of people using it is a huge addition to a really good detector.
K40 is weak at best with old technology. I think it has been many many many years since there has been a firmware update. Dealers like to push it because the margins are high. Buyers think it is cool because of the LED lights in the instrument cluster, but the system itself is very bad and old. You are probably better off with a windshield mounted radar detector and ALP laser jammers.
I am currently trying to decide what to install in my recently purchased Cayenne. In response to your statement from the installer I've used for k40 installs over the years:
The k40 has been updated three times since it came out but radar hasn't changed, the firmware upgrading is to make them user friendly .
So I received the MaxCi360 and quint ALP custom system today from Nick. Will install it sometime within the next week or so and post pictures. For the rear ALPs, I went with one regular and one TX head. The license plate mount that Nick fabricated for the TX head matched the shape and size of regular head so you don't get the asymmetrical look except for the bubble on the regular head.

yup, did the install myself. Nick sent me all of the parts including an alignment tool to drill the holes for the ALP heads. It was surprisingly easy to run wires in a 911.
