At least with a Turbo you can get a CPO car and have some level of confidence you won't be out 15-20% of the value in the car in repairs over the course of a year or two of ownership.

I agree 100%. My buddy has a 570S. It keeps going into limp mode. I do love the look. The worst for me is the depreciation it endures.
Mclaren owners have suffered from horrendous reliability issues too. It may be a great performer, but it can't touch the 911 when it comes to performance AND reliability.

McLaren does get a lot of looks. Couple of rather attractive girls raced up next to me to give me thumbs up, and it happened twice in one afternoon. It is not a desirable trait for a daily commuter but wouldn't mind that on weekends!
One of my best friends has a McLaren 12C that he let me drive in the mountains around where we live.
Awesome car, had a blast. Drove faster than I ever did on open road and could feel a 25% safety buffer all the way around.
So when last week I decided to change my aging 911 I seriously looked into these and even found a 12C at the local McLaren dealer, still under warranty. only $10K more than the used C4S!
That was REALLY tempting, but a bit of research on the web quickly got me back to Porsche, in addition to the fact that 911s are globally kid friendly. I drop 3 kids to school several times a week.
But the decision was actually fear driven, the reliability bit being the driver.
These are English cars after all
I really love my 911s. I am seriously considering trading for a Turbo. But I think I will really miss the PSE. I love the pops gurgles etc. I would love to get you guys' opinions. Would I really miss the PSE or will the features of a Turbo outweigh the loss. You Turbo owners please weigh in here.
Don't worry so much about losing the pops/gurgles etc. we just came out with a Valvetronic Supersport X-Pipe Exhaust System for the 991.1/991.2TT that really lets that exhaust note come out : )
..and if your highly reliable Porsche should need service while taking it on a trip, there is a dealer network across the country to help you.
When I considered a McLaren, I found that my closest dealer was in Scottsdale, AZ. There's nothing quite like a 2,000+ mile round trip on a flatbed for a warranty issue!
