Default 991 Ducktail- ordering and install

I'm looking into ordering a ducktail from suncoast for my 991.1 ( is somewhere else cheaper?)

They are on sale right now for 1795 without paint/shipping.

https://www.suncoastparts.com/mm5/me...ode=SKU991DUCK

My car is a GTS (black rear engine vents) and I'd like to keep those as is- Porsche insists the regular painted slated vents are required for the ducktail. Any issues here with install?

My car has a sunroof, is the sunroof module remap required ($200) or another porsche tax?

Finally, what should I expect to pay for install/paint? I've yet to get any quotes but would like to know what price range to expect.

Thanks!

Thanks STG. You installed yours as well? How well was your paint matched? I hear even with some of the best body shops paint matching these colors can be quite difficult.

I just did this on my GTS.

I kept the GTS engine cover on.

I didn't bother with the sunroof module.

My reputable paint shop charged me $250 to paint the spoiler and $100 to paint a new front lip.

Bingo! The post I was looking for.

Did you handle the install?

Yeah I did the install. It's pretty straightforward. I should write up a DIY but i'm too lazy.

The paint match isn't too tough.

DO NOT let anyone talk you into painting adjoining panels to blend in the color.

The ducktails shape is obviously on different angles and sticks up compared to the panels it sits next to. This and the shadowing it has from different angles is VERY forgiving to having a close match. If the shop is good, should be able to have a close enough match that you will never notice.

What color car??

Sunroof module isn't needed unless you have your sunroof open and going over 80MPH or so.

It just adjusts the opening amount, etc. for maximum aerodynamics. Personally, I never use the sunroof unless to crack open for buffeting.

When driving fast, hate any wind noise and have everything closed up.

Color is GT silver.

I had the front bumper filled and repainted from where a front plate was mounted. It looks good to my eye...maybe 7 or 8/10 but not quite perfect. In person it's hardly noticeable but pictures show it a bit more.

i think of the ducktail is as close as the front then I should be okay. Here's a crappy picture from the garage.

Having GT silver too, it's not the easiest to match.

Here is a better picture from my detailer during paint correction. This picture makes it much more noticeable under the shop lighting. It doesn't appear as significant/noticeable in person. But it does bother me. I wonder if I should see if the body shop can match it better while the ducktail is there.

Matching bumper to the hood and fenders where it's all on the same flat plane is a challenge. A very good shop should be able to do better. Any Porsche certified shops around?
