you have to remove the duck for access, but it's literally TWO screws and pushing forward and up.

I am skipping this...I don't plan on driving 100+ MPH with the sunroof wide open

I have seen folks saying you need to order the "mounting" fit for an extra ~1500 etc. They probably ordered the wrong part # and ordered all the parts needed individually and if you do this the cost can easily go past $3000.

The part# you need is: 991-044-800-78

This will include ALL the wiring harnesses for both the coupe and cab, mounting plates, hardware etc. It also includes an extra engine cover, the slats version for GTS cars, as Porsche recommends you swap to this engine cover with the Duck. Many folks have kept their GTS engine covers with this spoiler without any issues.

The cheapest place I found was here.

It took long since I am in CA, but there is no tax and they offer free shipping. This box is HUGE! So many places were charging $100-200 for shipping.

I just dropped off the spoiler with my paint guy, so hope to have it back within a week or so, but the install looks relatively easy. I will have to go to the dealer to disable my active spoiler option. Will keep everyone updated.

The install guide can be downloaded here.

THANKS PLENUM for sharing this document
OOOOO.... so tempting.

I read somewhere that you need dealership to reprogram the ECU to not deploy the original rear spoiler. But I no one on this thread mentioned they had to do this. Anyone knows for sure? Would it throw an error code if you don't get it reprogrammed?

Thanks,
Adrian

You must reprogram or you will get error codes and the third brake light will not function. You can move the wiring around to get the third brake light to work without reprogramming, but you will still get the deploy error when going over 70MPH.

I just went through this process a couple months ago.

Thanks!!

I've uploaded Porsche's installation instructions into the description of this item on our site here - hope that helps!

There are currently 2 kits available from Porsche within the US, and none in Germany. Once those 2 sell, this item will be back-ordered until Porsche replenishes stock.

Great thread.

I plan on either purchasing a 991.1 with the ducktail already on it, or adding one myself.

Does anyone know how much porsche charges to disable the wing from going up? Should I have it disabled BEFORE I install the wing?

Do you remove the actual motor when you install this wing?

No you should not disable BEFORE The install or else you will not be able to lift the wing to the raised position to remove it. Also the standard active spoiler is removed as one complete unit including the motors etc. It's SUPER easy 10-15 mins tops to remove.

I was charged some insane amount for 10 second procedure, like $300 or something. If you buy your car from a dealer just negotiate with them to get one free coding session. It literally takes about 1-2 minutes to program but requires the dealer tool to perform. SUPER annoying.

Wait, I should or should NOT disable before the install?

I was afraid of this.

Should not program before
the install because if you do you will not be able to raise the spoiler to unbolt and remove it.

Maybe I missed it, but I don’t see anyone mentioning anything about the button on the center console. Are most folks leaving it in place?
