Great thread for noobies like me to read. Hilarious.
My 991.2 has a wing, huh? I’d not even noticed it extending. On my ‘14 Cayman S at least I could see the wing elevate in the mirror. The only time I elevated it when parked was to wipe under it after my weekly car wash. So the manual button had a use for me.
I figure Porsche knows more about wings than I do, so I let the car decide when it comes up or down.
Apparently Porsche isn't the only manufacturer struggling with spoiler reliability. I saw a brand new Jag parked in the neighborhood today, still with temporary plates, with the spoiler failed in the up position.
Wow! This thread will never die. First I gotta say whatup to the old guys like STG and the others that make this forum awesome. Next thing to all the new 911 guys just because I was cool enough to pull off the spoiler up look at 5mph you need to know that there truly is only one Jrod and you are not him! Sadly I got rid of my 911 6 months ago but I still cruise the 991 forum because Ill always be a 911 nerd and the 991 will always be the best 911 ever. I fell in love with the T and the search for mine will start hopefully within the year. Everybody please drive your 911 every chance you get and keep your damn finger off the damn spoiler button! Please!
I had an old school targa i left the top off for a couple of weeks. Rens built a nest on the back shelf and when i went to back out of the garage one dive bombed my head. Luckily i have a resting pulse rate of 50.

Good luck with your search for a T!
I let mine go up and down automatically - for the 991.2, it raises much earlier than the 991.1, perhaps around 50 mph or whenever it needs additional cold air. I have noticed that the 991.2 is a LOT more spoiler happy (up and down up and down, automatically) than the 991.1 ever was.
Sometimes at autocross, mine will pop up on its own...
