Mouse Damage
Came across the Obsessed Garage video where his GT3 had 14K worth of mouse damage to his car and most recently on our forum an owner talking about their rear camera wiring being eaten.
Has there been more instances of mouse damage discussed on the forum?
I can just feel the GT3 owners disbelief when the tech was telling him what he had to do to repair the damage. Disassemble the entire car replace the harness and put everything back together. I was like what... what...... :O

I don't know about Porsche, but Toyota and some other car manufacturers have switched to soy based electrical coverings that are supposedly more environmentally friendly, but in any event cheaper. They have the unfortunate drawback that rodents like to eat them.

This happened to me recently.
Got a notification on my dash to check my right rear taillight. The reverse light wasn't working nor the turn signal. Light still illuminated, however.
Brought it to Porsche for service. They initially just replaced the whole taillight and gave the car back to me. I throw the signal on and also reverse and STILL got the error notification! Clearly they didn't fix it or double check their work!
They took it back into the shop and later determined that a mouse had gnawed on the wiring harness! What was initially covered by my warranty suddenly wasn't! Ended up being a ~$400 repair to splice some wires. What really irks me though is how they Porsche tech didn't see the damage to the wiring initially and thought throwing in a new headlight would solve the problem. I didn't mention this earlier but my taillights are tinted. So their initial solution left me with mismatched taillights!
I think I should vent this in another thread lol. Sorry for the temporary hijack OP!

Well bummer.
I haven't seen any mice or their droppings in my house but after seeing and reading stories of damage I might as well place some d-CON pellets on both sides of the garage door.

We have an RV that sits out under a cover during the winter. Somehow a mouse (or a family of them) decided that the roof AC unit at the front of the RV was a nice warm condo for the winter, and they didnt just chew the wiring, they chewed all of the plastics in there.. 2000 bucks for a new one. Man I hate mice...

On this topic, thank goodness rodents don't seem to be a problem where I am. Must mean that the snakes are alive and thriving.

Apparently, the mice got into his truck too, I mean INSIDE truck cabin and chewed up some of the plastic around the seat belts. He is going to buy a couple of cats and fill his driveway with Irish Spring. LOL.

I have 3 traps set in my shop and the electronic noise maker (which I think is worthless).
I catch one every month or so. Just buy the new plastic ones, use peanut butter and place along walls. Hopefully it gets them before they try to live in the car.

Called a pest control company who set feeding stations (none were eaten) and then came back a second time with this red pellet for and within 2 weeks there was not activity.
When you have a garage that is open to the fields, hard to know what to do to get rid of them. A bubble is the only solution.
