Replaced Rear Emblems on My 991.1 S
Hey Guys,
So, I had my rear bumper cover repainted due to a girl bumping me while texting and driving. Light enough that I could repair it but enough damage that the gouges were driving me crazy. After getting the bumper cover painted, I decided to go black with emblems to match my black PSE tips. Well, applying the emblems was kind of a bitch to do without the $700 Porsche template, and either none of the shops in my area had one, or the ones that did, wouldn't loan theirs' out, so I winged it.
My main concern was lining up the P O R S C H E lettering. Each letter has to be applied individually. I think I did ok there, as well as with the Carrera emblem. The 911 is a little too far to the left and the S is about right. I've attached comparison pics. Thinking about removing the S and reapplying a little further to the right. Can I peel it with a heat gun, and reapply it or do I need to drop another $34 for another emblem at Suncoast/wherever? Or in your opinion, its close enough and leave it alone. Thoughts?

The question is, are you going to be able to live with it? My personal opinion is the "S" is fine! However, looking at the pictures I uploaded, the "911" needs to be adjusted. To me, the "91" needs to be moved slightly down, then the entire "911" needs to be slightly shifted to the right and closer to the "C". You should be able draw one straight line to underline the "911" and the word "Carrera". It appears you can't do that with what you have. But, overall, I think you did a fairly good job!

My main things is - how obvious is it that it isn't perfect? In other words, would it/is it obvious that I replaced the emblems, had I not said anything. To me, I see that if I moved the S out to the right, as opposed to moving the 9 1 1 closer to Carrera, it would balance out everything. I just want it to look right, not necessarily perfect.

Looks fine to me. I got dealer to do it and left Carrera off. Didnt think there was any way i'd be able to do it. Good work.

like the black emblem on agate gray. the second line looks tilted down to the right. I would adjust it if it was on mine. You DO NOT need a heat gun to lift the letters, just use a dental floss and motion back and forth to peel them. I did mine last summer used black lettering , omitted carrera and used a red S on a sapphire blue car....good luck.

How did they paint the bumper without removing the letters and using a template to replace? If it's not right have the shop redo it.
I'm going to eliminate all but "911" on mine soon.

There's so much going on back there you can't tell.
Leave it alone.

Looks great. Leave it alone.
One thing I have learned over the years of modifying cars and motorcycles is that if you do the work, you will see mistakes and blemishes that no one else would ever notice.
My car is one year old with less than 5,000 miles and completely stock. I can give you a whole list of blemishes that no one else knows about and most would have a difficult time finding.
