Love the idea of a dirt 911! Have only spent a little time off-road on bikes (KTM 125s, 250s and 600s) but loved it and them. So good for improving the bond between rider and machine, but some of the un-learning a road rider has to do is hard. Good hard though.
There does seem to be something of a 911/GS crossover as well in my experience. Something about horizontally opposed cylinders maybe...!

SQ5 has been in garage for the last week or so....may not come out for a while. I'm going to drive my 991.2. I've waited 41 years for this car..............

Clean mine (myself) maybe 12-15 times a year. Always a thorough wash and rag-dry, but never any kind of "detailing." Maybe manage to wax it every other year. I enjoy cleaning if I have nothing pressing and it's a good-looking day and I turn on some tunes in the garage and relax. But I only wash the car when I feel like it, not when it "needs" it. So I drive around dirty plenty, since I take the car out any time I want to, weather notwithstanding. (We don't have snow so that's not an issue, but rain never stops me unless I just washed it within the last 24 hours; then sometimes I'll take something else so I can enjoy the shine a little longer.)
I agree with all the "why keep the miles down" responses. I bought a Turbo with a 148k MSRP for 53k when it was about 10 years old. It had 16,000 miles on it. The cars with 40,000 miles at that time were going for 45k. So the PO saved about $800 a year in depreciation by putting 1600 miles a year on it rather than 4k. Not a good trade in my eyes.
Funny thing was, I kept it 2 years, put another 8000 miles on it, and caught the Turbo surge so that I sold it for $1500 more than it cost me. But that was all lucky timing, not normal depreciation of course.

I hadn't been driving mine much either. But, I decided to just use it more. Its more fun than driving my Ram to work. I only take the truck now when I have to leave or come home during rush hour (45 mile commute to ATL airport). I don't like leaving it outside under the covered parking, but I'm just going to let a fine layer of dirt form a protective coating on it and not worry about it.
Of course, this is all after I get my interior parts back from the carbon fiber guy.

They made tens of thousands of these, you're not putting miles on a vintage Ferrari. Drive it and don't worry about it, I've put 20k miles on my 991 the past year and i'll drive it until the repairs become too much- then i'll buy another one. Im also 24 and make good money for my age, but not enough to have $60k sit in the garage all week while I pay for another $30k liability to drive around and 'save miles'.
i think the best thing I did was buy a CPO 991 with 40k miles, there was no incentive or thought for me to keep the miles off. You could die tomorrow, so don't waste good driving years with a boring 2nd car!

The best thing about 911 C2S are their versatility and the ability to enjoy everyday, every mile. Most guys here will pick some sort of 911 if they could only own/drive one car.
