Ventilated Seats and Perforations
I'm finalizing my configuration (C2) and am deciding on ventilated seats. I'm certain about getting heated seats, but not sure about ventilated.
Note that I live in Vancouver, where is does not really get that hot or humid in the summer.
I've never had ventilated seats, so I don't have any experience to draw from.
Also, I'm concerned about maintenance and cleaning, I'm spec'ing the two tone graphite blue with chalk leather, so the seats will be light in colour, which I think will show the dirt more and be more difficult to keep clean.
Also, not sure if I even like the look and feel of all those perforated holes and prefer the smooth leather from a tactile point of view.
Update: Are the perforations there for both ventilated and non-ventilated? I honestly forgot to look when I was at the dealer yesterday.

This point of view seems to be heresy and much in the minority on Rennlist, but personally, I do not like the ventilated seats or the perforations they require. I test drove a car with ventilated seats and did not care for the sensation at all. Even in south Texas, the Porsche climate control is extremely efficient so within seconds to a few minutes at most the cabin is cool and comfortable. Now I rarely park outside so obviously that is a big help. But even in the sun the cabin cools down quickly.
I'm a big fan of a full leather interior. To me its just an essential for a high-end sports car and was one of the first boxes I checked when specing my 991.2 C2S with espresso/cognac natural leather last year. Leather looks so much better than the standard interior, and I just love the tactile sensations of the natural leather. The areas of solid leather on the edges of the seats are especially rich and soft to the touch and these would be heavily perforated with ventilation. I wanted solid leather seating throughout but this was not available, even through Porsche Exclusive.

I have the black extended leather option with heated, but not ventilated seats. The leather is perforated, which I dislike. I much prefer the cocoa leather unperforated seats in my previous 997.

Most Porsche folks in the Southern USA will not buy a Porsche without ventilated seats, except for maybe some GT3 and GT4 buyers. If you are not worried about resale to the Southern half of USA, just get what you want.

Again in the minority here, but I'm in deep south Texas, am on my fifth 911 since 1999 and have never ordered perforated seats. Was not an issue when I sold my last car.

I have never had any cleaning or care issue with my vented seats. I find them outstanding for comfort with leather seats- totally staying dry and cool on long trips here in the mid-Atlantic area, but that may be moot in your area. They are not a "must have" option IMHO, except for me.

I love the seat warmer/cooler. I have a cab and I live in So Cal. You are right, you probably will not need the seat cooler in Vancouver very often but if you are going to swing for the seat warmer, why not throw the cooler into the mix anyway?!

I'll let you know more after the summer, but the Sport-Tex seats are another option: it's a breathable weave, so you don't have leather to contend with. If I was getting leather seats, I'd get ventilation, without question.

Also have cognac /espresso nat. leather, but ventilated... In July & Aug. in B C. You'd appreciate them. Leather is soft and they really do look good. They really do cool off as they're not like MB S class ventilated seats which are barely noticeable when on.

I live just south of you in Bellingham and run mine all summer long, in both the Boxster (awesome with the top down) and in the Cayenne.
Well worth the extra for this option!

I had ventilated seats on multiple cars, they are ok , certainly not a must
by the way porsche cooled seats are one of the weakest among other brands like lexus or Benz
