Default Change 991 dash out ..anyone?

My luxor beige dash is killing me with the refection it gives back against the windshield. Seeking a black or dark brown now on line. Has any one had experience changing out dash themselves or would you recommend to have a dealer do?
Also, any squeaks or noise's with new install?

signed,

Should i just leave it alone.

I would not recommend this approach. Have you tried a different seating position? Polorized glasses/sun glasses? I've had every color of Porsche leather dash, and have never had this issue. Sorry you are facing it.

Crazy idea....what about a cover or mat like this?:

Polorized sun glasses do take it away.... but, Hey its a long winter here in Mn.... getting itchy to do something... i did order the tweeters from Nick Akin however, he needed to know the color of covers...
i just thought kill 2 birds at once.
i think your right to leave well enough alone....
Thanks...for your insight... though ..... ill just back away from the keyboard now.

Jerry, try one of those mats, can't hurt for about $50.

I'm almost always in the car with polorized sunglasses, and top down.....probably why no issue for me.

Cover the dash in black. Way cheaper and easier than swapping out a dash, which I have to believe is a job. Years back I had a dash cover for my 78 to keep the sun from cracking it.

+1

A good upholsterer should be able to cover that dash in black leather. It might not be cheap, but it would be worth it. Otherwise, that dash cover LexVan posted is a good idea.

My mom has a Macan with beige dash. It's a problem - I don't think Porsche should even offer the option.

I had that problem in my '14 Boxster S with a Luxor Beige dash. After a while I got used to it and my eyes weren't so fixated on the glare. Every now and then it would bother me but for the most part I didn't see it. A Luxor Beige dash wouldn't stop me from buying another car with that color.

Had the beige interior in my '09 C4S Cab and had the same reflection. Polarized glasses helped a bit but I just left it alone. My subsequent 15 had a black interior (and a roof!)

A friend of mine had his Cayman dash professionally dyed in black. Looks fantastic. I would investigate this route. Find a local leather repair service.

I think Porsche even added a warning to the configurator when you choose the lighter color, so they recognize it as well.

Dyed sounds like a great idea. Changing out.......nah, sounds like something that "wouldn't be quite right" for ever more.

Jerry ... can you let me know if you have any luck with the dye job ? I have the same issue .... and I think there is just TOO much beige on the interior and would like to break it up with some black.

In retrospect, I think this is a bad idea.

I'd buy a removable cover to place on top. Otherwise, I would not permanently modify the dash.

Have your windshield tinted with the lightest shade 3m crystalline, its not going to knock it all out but it will help.
