Default Replacing Battery

Can I use my Memory saver with 9v Battey that plugs into Cigarette lighter while replacing battery and not loose all my settings?

I see a version of memory saver that plugs into OBD II which I do not have is available ....Is it necessary to get this version?

Cheers---

It worked somewhat for me (9V) but I'd recommend a Ctek connected to the cig lighter for 12 solid Volts...
I lost my windows position (no biggie) but the rest was A-OK using the 9V gizmo...

I didn't use anything and just had to reset the clock. Battery was out for about 15 min.

So it's ok to have a Ctek connected with the battery disconnected? Would the Ctek be set in the "Supply" mode when doing this?

Thank You for the input and advice---I decided to replace the battery with battery from the Porsche dealership----An Interstate Battery (AGM) for $202.54. This battery is a bit longer About 1.5 inches than OEM stock, but the Porsche tray is set up to accomadate this increased length. it weighs a bit more as well. Much better CCA and warranty---the Porsche dealer said this is a great battery.

I did the install myself thanks to the clear instructions from Greg D---

I used the CTEK plugged in during the whole process, about 20 mins--I was being very slow and cautious ---I didn't want to break a piece of trim or drop a bolt/nut into the abyss...

My car retained all memory---seats, keys, lights, windows....zero issuues.

The home feature on my car is now working again---the LED's and parking lights stay on after I exit the car and Turn on when I unlock the car with Keyfob---

Cheers

Do you have a part # for that battery handy, by chance?

Every winter I remove the battery when I put my car in winter storage. Of all the Porsches I have owned the 991 is the simplest to initialize when it goes back on road. Adjust the windows end points, that's it. The clock gets reset by the nav system, nothing else seems to be lost.

FWIW I used a CTEK and didn't have to reset anything - not the clock, not the windows, not the seats or AC settings.

Cheers,

You really should do an e-Gas calibration. The instructions should be in the owners manual.

This should be done every once in a while even if the battery remains in the car and the battery doesn't go flat.

Just hook up a pair of jumper cables under the hood. No need to start the other vehicle. Just bag the terminals as you pull them off the old battery. no need for a special unit.

Better battery here. Buy online and save $20. This is for a 14 with the 3.8
