Default Vorsteiner Diffuser installed

Finally installed!

For those of you considering it and have or plan on installing an aftermarket exhaust, keep in mind that the diffuser needs to cut out slightly to fit around the pipes. I also cut out a hole for the oil drain so the bumper won't have to be removed in order to change the oil.

First is this the newest version with heat shield and venting? Did you have to cut around the piping and if so what did you use to cut? I'm also interested how you came up with he location for the oil drain. Did you lay the diffuser on without fully attaching and get an approx location.? What did you use to cut the hole?

Lastly were you satisfied with the overall quality of the piece? I think this is one of the nicest adds to the 991 and I will be ordering as soon as I finish this business trip. Would really love some feedback and tips for install. Looks great.

I took it over to a friends shop and we got it up in the air. I think that is the only way to get it done right. We laid it over prior to attaching and lined it up within an inch away from the final mounted position. Placed some duct tape around the hole so we don't burr the carbon too much and used a hole saw to cut the opening. Ended up in the perfect position. Same with the cut outs for the exhaust. We used an air jig and pretty much freehanded it around the exhaust. I wanted it just far enough away from the pipe. Turned out great.
Still ended up breaking a few of the clips mounting it, but was able to mount it tight enough by screwing it to the heat shield on either side as intended.

Oh and yes, this is the newest version with the heat shield. I had the previous version without and it never incurred any damage.

Why isn't Vorsteiner pre-drilling the oil drain hole for the customer?

Maxr, now that you have this "go faster" piece installed you HAVE to track your cab! It does look cool but the shiny black finish is a little flashy for me and it probably will really show dirt more than the OEM. But I love mods. We 911 drivers just have to tinker to make them special & perfect to us. Enjoy.

I asked the same question with one of the vendors that sells the product. They were told some customers want the oil hole drilled, others don't.

I'd like to find some kind of rubber grommet to install into the opening to keep dirt out. Any ideas?
The opening is 1 3/4

Actually pretty easy. If I didn't try to follow someone else's instructions to try to take off the shrouds around the exhaust tips I would have had it completely intact. They did not need to come off and didn't come off very easily. I broke one and the other I left on. The piece comes off with a couple of screws and removal of a rivet. Then just snaps out. maybe a 10 min part of the job

Yup, try an auto part store. I just went online and was able to locate multiple sites.
