Default No heater, 2 weeks out of warranty

Heater stopped heating this afternoon.... I read up on heater valves, seems like a common and easy fix... But I am 2 weeks out of warranty per the dealer (yeah!!!) - I was wondering if anyone had an idea of the cost (if you got it done under warranty or not), because if it's going to be something crazy I might as well try an independent... Nothing I can do myself I imagine ? I did not even find a fuse for that listed...

PS: was after a deluge last night, but worked this AM, just not in the afternoon, Probably a coincidence....

Look up COV's or change over valves. Not very $$$ part. Location determines how much labor. Not sure where the heater one is offhand.

I did, saw those were cheap but located in the engine compartment, wondering if that's 5 hours labor or something.. I'll push for a goodwill thing... fingers crossed...
Ironically the heat in my 72 911 is also off - the heater valve is not turning anymore (same deal probably but that one is manual) and my only "warm" car is the Alfa Romeo, which if taken out in the rain will return to the earth in a puddle of iron oxide in about 2 hours ;-)

What year? There was a campaign for 2012.5, 2013's or so that some were replaced under warranty.

Won't be long. 2 hours max, or less. They are in a few different locations. Some easier than others.

As for the '72, usually the cable slips out of the set screw on the 'flapper' valve. If both sides are inop, then likely cable is broken inside tunnel. Either way easy.
Sorry, can't help with 991....

And yes, over 3.5" rain last nite!

Ask yourself your dealer to cover it under goodwill.

2013 so hopefully there a recall or tsb but they did all the recalls on it a few months back. Oh well it beats an IMS bearing :-)

Heat is back!!! Maybe that valve got soaked last night in the downpour and a little frying in a warm engine helped. I'm not cancelling my appointment - it might crap out again :-)

Mine did the same thing...stopped working then started working, then stopped working before getting it replaced. No issues since.

Since that 72 is broken I think you should unload it. To me.

I'd expect some goodwill, here. Good luck. See how/what the dealership does. If unsatisfied, make a simple call into PCNA and open a file/case number.

I just read up on COV yesterday... here is the link
https://rennlist.com/forums/991/8002...-on-991-a.html
its not $$ the part itself valve + wiring harness, make sure its F version, the 4th gen.
I had my replace by dealer, my car is 2012 earlier batch.
see if they can replace all 8 of them out of good will

I want to say when they replaced mine under warrenty, it would have been under $300. Don't sweat it.

I asked, they said they would try goodwill if that is the issue, but since I am not the original owner it's not a for sure thing... He asked me if I owned other porsches, and how many I'd owned total, apparently that helps with goodwill claims!!! (yeah 72!) Still @15K miles... not great ! It's working again this morning but yeah, it will fail again... Now if this not put a code anywhere, it might be tricky !

I've read somewhere 207 pounds, so $300 ish ? If that's what it comes to I can live with that, but if I have to pay I will request the F version or nothing...

RE:72 - I know exactly what's wrong with that one, the valves on each side on the exchangers are a little crusty and don't rotate open/close without some lube and persuasion... I just can't be bothered to put it on a lift right now but it's an easy fix ;-)
