All that work to plug (unplug) induction noise coming into the cabin? I thought I read the noise tube is located in the interior rear under a package cover and it can be plugged with a piece of foam easily from the inside 991.2)?

Mine was intermittently stopping during the colder months here in Dec / Jan. I actually had an excel logsheet and it was random between morning & evening, etc. Dealer had the car for 1 week and couldn't replicate, sent me home. It finally seems to have permanently failed last weekend and I have a bright yellow warning for "check coolant system, seek repair" etc. Barely still in warranty, good luck friend.

Alright, so.... Porsche covered most of it, all parts and 70% of labor, left me with a very small bill - no complaints at all... I actually enjoyed the rental Macan !

Can you explain this to me though? I know there's a heater shutoff COV, and a coolant shutoff COV, this was a heater not generating heat issue - and the coolant one was replaced? With added antifreeze ? I thought the COV was a vacuum operated device, air tubes... Sorry if those are silly Qs, I was ready to do this myself and from everything I read it was vacuum stuff, not coolant....Glad I had them service it instead, for $26 !!

PS: Base Macan is cool but I'd buy an S, it could use more power. Another chance to drive PDK, and I'm still impressed by speed and smoothness of shifts, and still disappointed by the same issue I've always had with PDK and DSG: you slow down to come to a stop, but change your mind and "go" before a complete stop - the car goes absolutely nowhere for a second or more...PDK totally confused... Other than that, cool tranny but I'll stick with the 7MT...

Bump - nobody ? Is it at least as weird to you as it is to me ? COV is a vacuum device, why on earth would they add coolant ?

Probably no answer since we'd all just be guessing. But looking back at the diagrams in post 23, I wouldn't be surprised if that valve is lurking in a hard-to-reach spot behind a coolant line. Maybe they had to disconnect a coolant line to get to it, then replaced the lost coolant when done. There's my guess.

Great outcome though!

I am the newest member of the "no heat" club!

It was 55F yesterday, so I cracked the windows and turned on the heat only to notice my feet getting colder...

Do us a favor, after they fix the COV, see if they added coolant and if so, please ask why ? Curious about this....

(as a side note it would appear I have 2 profiles, wonder if an admin could merge)

^Will do. Not in a rush to get it fixed since temps are climbing, and I have gotten a "high-center brake light" alert a few times, and I would like it to remain on when I go to the dealer.

Actually, does the 991 save thrown codes, or does it need to be on when the tech scans it? I know the latter was the case with Audi.

Your heater uses coolant through the heat exchanger to provide heat. I'm guessing during diagnostics the tech would probably check coolant, heat exchanger, coolant lines, and the cov.
in the process of diagnosing the issue the tech may have burped the system and lost some coolant. Just a guess.

I just posted this in another thread, but wanted to post here too so it comes up in searches:

The heat went out in my '14C2S on the way to the dealer this morning for my 4yr/40k service. I'm 6 weeks out of warranty, so I'm hoping they goodwill the repair, assuming that it's a COV issue. I told them when I dropped it off that there is known issues with the COV failures. So, we'll see.

They will probably do it for free - if not like me where they covered a %, you will end up with a very small bill / courtesy repair. Gotta give it to them they're pretty decent in that respect !

Doesn't the worksheet says "replaced coolant switch over valve?" Maybe some coolant came out

They're trying to charge me $290 for this. They already have the bumper off for the 4yr/40k service. Not very happy at this point. Waiting to hear back from my SA.
