Default Porsche Roadside Assistance

1-800-PORSCHE. Does anyone use this in lieu of insurance Road Assistance or AAA? It seems to offer many of the same services.

I have upgraded AAA coverage for better towing options for other cars.

Depending on warranty coverage remaining I will probably call AAA for minor stuff and use the 1-800-PORSCHE for warranty type stuff since they only tow to the nearest dealer.

The question was more about how they compare to the other services not whether "didnt work or not". Sorry for not being more clear.

I had a flat tire in the city and called Porsche roadside assistance, they quoted me an hour and half until someone would be able to tow the car. AAA was able to do it in 20 minutes.

I had to use them due to a couple of flats and they have always been quite prompt. I even had an issue 85 miles away out of town and from a dealer. They had someone there in 45 minutes and towed my car back to my City.

Used Porsche Roadside Assistance once, stranded with a bad fuel injector on a Cayenne. It was a great experience (or as great as it could be under the circumstances). They arranged rental, picked up Cayenne and took it 2 hours back to Houston to the dealership. I think they also paid for hotel. Very professional. But I think it goes away when warranty expires?

So AAA maybe not a bad idea, but I've never had any experience with AAA (or AA Ha ha).

I got a flat a few months ago. Called the factory roadside assistance. They offered to tow for free to the P dealer 18 miles away. Would have been fine but it was closed for the night. There were about 3 tire places within 1 1/2 miles from where I was that were still open for a few hours. "OK, that's $70. What credit card number?" Told them to forget it. Called AAA, they took 15 minutes, flatbed service to my driveway where I plugged it myself. Factory roadside is only useful if there's a problem that is under warranty.

Great point. My Dealership will not repair a tire only replace it.

Porsche only allows you to tow the car to your home or the dealer. I have had them tow it to my house and then call and tow it to the dealer in the AM. I just never like leaving my car with an unfamiliar towing company.
I also have an American Express Platinum Card so they allow four free tows a year, so that is also eight free tows for me since my wife also has her own Platinum card for her business.

Last edited by BoxsterG; 02-08-2017 at 11:44 PM. Reason: Correction for four free tows and not two tows.

I need to read my amex plat card benefits more closely, i didn't know they did that. I carry AAA 100 mile tow, well i have 2 old cars. And I've used it more for my buddies than myself :-)
But it's good to have and cost is small really... and worth it for the DMV services they provide in CA (No DMV visits)

I actually call Porsche when my cayenne got hit while parked by a drunk driver... Porsche would only tow it to the dealer. I wanted to take it to my shop since the damage was only a bumper cover and a suspension arm that bent... So I used AAA.

I should check my AMEX Delta Skymiles for tows. Otherwise is AAA 100 mile tow typically reasonable cost?

I used Porsche Roadside Assistance when my transmission cooler sprung a leak right before coming into my driveway leaving a stream of fluid. Very pleased with the service.
Local towing company driver called when they got the "order" then the driver called again about a mile away. Took maybe 20 minutes to arrive from initial 800 call. Driver was familiar with the location of the tow hook in the front compartment and how to use it to safely tug my 2015 Carrera S up onto the rollback. He carefully tied the car down and said he had been to the Fresno dealer 55 miles away the prior week.
Very impressed with the service. Comparable to using my AAA over the years, if not more attentive.

Isn't Porsche Roadside Assistance the same as the BMW program? You call them and they arrange a flatbed with a local towing company. AAA does the same thing. I had a dead car once during a deep freeze. Wait times were 5 hours. I called everyone and the first one to arrive got the tow and I cancelled the rest.

The 100 mile tow is free if u have AAA Plus, and they will tow to the destination of ur choice. Oh, and it includes flatbed towing... And free gas and jump start. And free locksmith service. My recollection is it was about $150/year for wife and me for all cars, including cars we drive owned by others.
