So, I took the door strips off. Not for the timid!
First, remove the door panels (I used plenum's how to)
Once off, you need to unscrew the door handle panel from the back to access all the plastic spot welds.

Next use a drill and 'carefully' drill out the center of all of the plastic rivet/welds holding the strip in place. I say carefully, because I accidentally had one go to far and put a hole through the trim strip (doesn't matter though, its being filled in before being covered in carbon fiber.

all drilled out

door without strips:

and the door strips removed

Its going to take 3-4 weeks to get the carbon work done. Then I plan on either gluing or 3m taping the strips back in place.

it doesn't photograph that well, but it came out amazing.

Double sided tape didn't want to hold the door blades on so I used E6000 adhesive and some M6 sized bolts and bonded the bolts onto the back side of the strip at every spot there was a plastic weld,
and after fully curing, I just bolted them onto the door panel,
now they aren't going anywhere.

Very nice choice on that carbon with the red thread, I love that. Way better than OEM. Also, thanks for this thread as I was "this close" to trying to pry off the trim. You just never know....especially when all the other trim comes off without a hitch!
