Last time I had a dealer check my tires, they put generic nitrogen in them. I was PISSED!

I'd pursue legal action. Initially against the dealership and filter maker/distributor(s). Then I'd go after that conniving mechanic & service manager duo that are very clearly out to misrepresent their services while risking the operational integrity of your chariot.

good point

This nomenclature has always confused me. To me, O.E.M. is Mahle (or any other approved Porsche supplier). and O.E. is a true Porsche part, in a Porsche box, with a Porsche part number.

I would say that Mahle is considered an 'OEM Supplier'. Porsche does not manufacture oil filters. However, they do sell 'Genuine' Porsche oil filters for an appropriate Porsche price.

+1 on this statement!

Does the clean white filter say "Porsche" anywhere on it? I don't see it. The supposedly offending filter has Mahle on it, but I'd bet it came in a Porsche wrapper just like the other one.

BTW, I've noticed on the backside of the Carrera S wheels you'll find BBS has their initials imprinted and it doesn't say Porsche anywhere! Dammit! (I had heard that BBS makes these so I looked when I had the wheel off to see). I want ones with the Porsche word on it, not just the official part number. *#$**@

I bet if we look hard enough there are VW branded parts on our car.

We are doomed

New filter is branded Mahle and has the fancy "P" inside of the triangle:

...and yes, there are parts with VW/Audi marks on the 911!

I just realized that OP has a made a total of one post on the forum and never followed up beyond editing the original post.

ATLC2S, I hope we haven't scared you off the forum with our responses. Most of us catch a bit of flack from others here at times so it's really nothing personal or unusual. There are certainly posts I've made that didn't go right! The forum is packed with a lot of good knowledge and great folks and I'm sure your next post will go better. I hope we hear from you again on this thread or others.

and welcome!

Looks like the oil level sensor.

interesting, I usually change the oil myself and buy filter from dealer or online and its always been in a small brown box with red Porsche lettering on it with same OEM numbers....

Exactly my point. The original poster has no idea what he is talking about. The PD in a triangle is the proof it's a Porsche part...
