Why would you buy a GTS instead of a 3.8 tt?

If anyone is trading or selling a White 4 GTS that would be my next step over my current C4S.

I ran my wanted builds in the PCNA configurator and my dream build GTS is $139k. In the 911 Turbo, its over $171k, and I can't get a manual. I sure like the 3.8 better, but for $31k+ and no manual tranny? More than $32k more???
With my preference and my retirement budget, that's not going to happen! The question should be: would I be happy with a 450 Hp 3.0 L, with lots of grunt? Or should I keep looking for that perfect NA 3.8 L GTS? Right now I'm still looking....

Not in the market, but I really dislike the turbo body style.

Turbo looks goofy to me. Doesn't even look like a 911 anymore under all that plastic nonsense bodywork. Don't care for the wheel options either. You couldn't give me a TT much less make me pay $150k+ for one.

Good thing they make 15 variants to suit every taste.
I think it looks pretty badass.

Not sure what you are seeing.........go drive one. A lot of people don't like them as they are not NA, Its an absolutely fantastic piece of engineering that's legal.

Could be the wing? Maybe rear fascia? Dunno.
No amount of driving is going to change my mind about how it looks. Sure it's a total monster.

TTs look best in black because it hides all the seams and creases well. The TT always looked like the clown car Porsche to me. YMMV.

same here, had a 14 TTS have zero interest in going back. I find my manual 2017 C2S far more engaging and fun to drive. I get AWD but I don't like it on the 911..I like the RWD sensation and no matter what the rear bias ratio is on a TTS it doesn't feel the same..

The two cars do not drive the same.
Having driven a 991.2 C2S and a TTS on track, the former drives very much like the 991.1 (a NA car) while the latter drives like, well, a FI car. The TTS is also heavier, and you can feel the weight. Some prefer it that way, some don't.
All that said, both great cars, but very different.

Let's be honest, neither car feels like a traditional sports car. Coming from a GT4, both feel very luxurious and grand touring oriented. That said, everyone has opinions....

Unless I had to have a new build for around $140-$150k, rear wheel drive and or a manual transmission, the short answer is no.
I just compared a 2014 Turbo S against a 2017 C4 (also turbo) which is pretty similar to what the GTS will be. I test drove it in Colorado Springs so plenty of mountain corners as well as a run up HWY 24 toward Pikes Peak where you gain over 1000 feet.
The Turbo S trounced the C4 for acceleration. It rode noticeably better and clearly had the softer suspension in the regular setting. Overall it had a bit more of a GT feel to it. Although the Turbo S did not win everywhere, I thought the C4 felt lighter and more nimble, the ride and power made the difference. On a long trip give me the Turbo S.
Another bonus is you can buy a used 2014 Turbo S for under what a new GTS C4 will cost. You will also avoid a lot of depreciation this way.
For those where owning the top 911 model matters, you win here too.
