Default Cost and process of installing IPD Plenum

Hey all,
Who has had an IPD installed and how much did it cost you? If it was a porsche dealer please let me know which dealer it was and if you know whether or not the engine had to be dropped.

I've purchased an IPD plenum and had tried to install it myself and realized that my skill set stopped at unbolting parts. It seemed to me that the engine may need to be dropped in order to install it or at least I couldn't figure out how to get the old one out.

My car is at the dealer and I had a quote from them that he reconfirmed via email for $513. We had a discussion that if it takes longer they'll have to eat it. After the car was in the shop for an entire day I find out that they haven't even started it and that they realized that they underquoted the job. They're saying that its going to take 11 hours and cost almost $1900. I laughed at that and pointed him to his email, which he doesn't seem to want to stand behind. My next step is to talk to the manager and possibly take it up to PCA. (Any recommendations appreciated)

I've explained to them that i've seen others spend around 600 dollars to install it and I think a few people here have spent only 200 to install. I can't imagine how that would be possible unless there was a way to do it without removing the motor.

I would appreciate guidance on this from those who have already had experience with the install.

Sorry for the lengthy write up, but as you can imagine I'm frustrated that people can't stand by their written word! I even gave the guy a bottle of wine for Christmas

They must have an idiot on a job that doesn't know what he's doing and is taking forever or is over his head.

Well that's clearly the case because they haven't even started it.

Maybe the idiots think you're trying to install a X51 power kit!

Imagine how long it would take them to install that. What? Six months? They couldn't even do it. You'd have a frunk full of extra parts.

Obvious money grab. Go elsewhere and ask him for the wine back.

Its in Bellevue, WA.

Interestingly enough he just sent me the following email:
"I went back and talk to a few guys and asked them to collaborate on this for me. After discussing with them and looking at the selected labor ops the conclusion we came to is that the real time should be 5.5 hours. I will do the intake for 3 hours and eat the other 2.5"

Amazing that they were able to shave off 5.5 hours just like that!! WTF do they take me for?

They are either idiots or thieves.

WA?? Not surprising. Oh well, these things happen all over. Mostly in cities with larger disposable incomes.

How did they shave off 5 1/2 hours?

They all canceled their Friday night strip joint plans that you were paying for!

Yeah you're right. could have been because I wanted to vent and couldn't remember the exact topic of a previous thread I started. This was a little more to the point. Bitching about a**es that try to take advantage of people.
Do they think because we drive these cars that we have unlimited resources well maybe some of us, but the rich stay rich because they don't let others take advantage of them and are frugal with their money.

I payed my Porsche dealer $1195 for the part and the installation. It took them less than two hours to complete the job. Where are you located?
