Angry Steam from front intercooler?

Hello everyone:

2015 C2S with Sport Design Kit(with front intercooler. Car has been in the garage for a couple of weeks due to cold weather. I turned her on today to just check up on it and noticed that, after leaving the car on in the garage (open of course) for about 30 minutes, there was some light steam/white smoke coming out of the mid-front intercooler opening on the sport design bumper.

The reason I noticed this is because the front bumper was fogging up a bit and it looked weird from a distance, and then I noticed the steam rising from the middle intercooler area out.

Is this normal? If not what could it be? Thank you!

You mean radiator, right?

It was just probably water condensation coming off. How long in storage? Recently washed?

If it was coolant, you'd easily be able to smell it.

Why you starting it? Just let it sit till spring.

Yes sorry, silly me. The radiator*. Yes it was washed and then stored but it has been a couple of weeks since then, so this probably just water sitting in there hopefully.

It did not smell like coolant but I shall keep an eye on it next time again.

Thank you LexVan.

Probably trapped water getting warmed up and the cold air hitting it.

Starting the car and sitting idle for 30min has zero benefit. Put it on a battery tender and don't start until ready to drive.

Plenty of threads with winter storage protocol.

It's probably just wash water.

How cold? Could be snow/ice melting.

If your radiators are very dirty (easy to be dirty) water and wet stuff can easily accumulate at the bottom back corners.

A leaf blower is a very effective tool to blow out your radiators. Do it both dry and after washing.

Thanks STG, yes I'm pretty new to this weather but not as cold as EU.

LexVan: Nights we see 30s-40s not too bad at all. I am assuming and hoping it is just water collected.

I will keep an eye on it again next time. I will definitely get a battery tender, I am not used to needing one!

Are you more Tom Hardy or Charlize Theron?

Thank you STG again. I will promptly order that.

LexVan: It depends. I like to think of myself as more of a Charlize but am probably 1.5 times her age. She looks better than me, that is for sure!

This exact thing happened to me last winter. I had the car delivered to me late Feb, they had the tech from dealership go over the car and PCM with me over the phone. I had it running in the garage and noticed steam coming off the radiator. I panicked a bit at the time, never figured exactly what it was but 4k miles later all is good.
