Default Thieves @ XM Sirius radio

Since about 2003 had subscriptions for 2-4 radios.

Now have 3.

Last year I called and said shut them off after they tried to hose me $200/car.
They came down to $94.54/car tax included etc...still too much but did it.

Just received auto-pay billing coming up in 30 days - renewal for $204.88 each for the "SiriusXM Select Family Friendly" package.

Anybody chime in on the latest deal you're getting and other than telling them
to shut them off is there a secret handshake that I should try?

BTW I do like it

THX

I never use it. Prefer my cd's or iPod.

Sounds like AT&T and the cable rates. Good Luck.

Always threaten to cancel. Ask for the "retentions department". Same goes for your cell phone, internet and cable TV. It's a game. Play the game and $ave.

I ignored their calls and let it expire. Magically, I can now get a Sirius Select package for $5/ month for 6 months. For a car I drive a few times a week, I don't mind letting it expire and listening to iPod or Amazon Music.

You should discuss packages too. There are some that are much cheaper. I listen to the same 8 stations. Not getting the Stern channels saves a lot, IIRC. Just remember all their promotional plans have auto renewal at the full price.

Thanks a lot- I'll try hitting them w/the "Sirius Select" option & trimmed down channel packages. I went through their crap about doing me a big favor & dropping the X-rated channels which I never was aware of or wanted. That's when they sprung the "family friendly" BS.

I dread making these 30 min calls! Dish Satellite network is just as bad and that's coming up soon too.

I think we are currently paying about $8-10 per month per subscription, 2 subscriptions. Now that they have the app, you only need 1 subscription per person and can use your phone's Bluetooth for the non set up car. My suv is set up for Sirius and I use the app in my 911. My wife has the other subscription for her suv.

I have a SiriusXM All Access package for one car and wireless access from any device via APP.
Could not get a break for a second car so that car uses Sirius by cell.
Cost was $144 finally and we did spar around a bit with someone in Pakistan if I remember correctly.-Richard
BTW If it wasn't for Met Opera Radio, I would not have SiriusXM but a seperate Met subscription.

On the App....I have one month to go on a Verizon contract that was originally for 24
months on 3 new iphones....2G Data (total for the 3 phones) was the deal & that data goes fast as it is. -
if we go over it's $15 per G and no carry over on unused.

Next month the contract goes away and the program for 8G and about $50/month less cost.

How much data does the XM App use?

canceled all my subscriptions except the one on my motorcycle. Bought a new motorcycle in july 2015 and it came with a free 90 day trial, after it expired the subscription continued and I have not received a bill since (big smile) so getting free XM for now. its great for the motorcycle on long trips MD to Daytona Florida with same station, but for everyday use you start to hear the same pattern and same songs. If XM billing every catches up I will probably cancel since motorcycles now have Bluetooth and thumb drives that you can load tons of music.....

"How much data does the XM App use?"
Really don't know because I rarely use it!
I've got 20GIG/ Month with 39 in the bank, so am not worried.
All my iDevices share one AT&T Data Plan.-Richard

We got away from Sirius fully. Just use our phones and some data cards with music files on them. It takes a bit of 'maintenance' work to add new music now and again.

Just went through this on my 3 cars. I call telling them I want to cancel all 3 cars. They transfer you to someone else that will ask why and give you an offer for less. Keep saying NO and be prepared to cancel. They will not let you off the phone without a deal for at least 6 months. I think I ended with 12 months for around $88 per car plus taxes and fees. I always tell them that I want a paper billing, not auto renewal. When you do auto renewal, they will try to hose you at something like $12.95 per month or more.

I remind them they always send me offers on my new cars at $6 per month and if I can't get that I am cancelling the service.

Same like the rest. The cheapest offer I received was $5 a month for six months. I declined and now use Pandora through my cell.

Glad this was brought up.

These companies like cable, mobile phones, etc. are a joke. No transparency on pricing and always feel like you're getting screwed.

Signed up for XM for the wife's SUV because she wanted it. The cheap initial offer. Will keep an eye on it upon renewal.

Just below 30 per month for 3 subscriptions, which includes the app and traffic alerts for the Porsche nav...
