I am a fan of carbon fiber - but when I ordered my 4S - I sat with the bordeaux / black leather samples - along with the carbon fiber together in a very well lit room at the dealership. The carbon fiber color is more like dark chocolate or espresso instead of black. It did not match the leather. While that may seem obsolete - if you wore a suit - with black pants from designer A - and the jacket from Designer B - while both are black - you know they won't match - and it looks like a sincere error. That's what I felt with this combo.
Though I know a lot of folks like it. I would have preferred CF with another color leather so that it looks intentional instead of a mistake. Does this make sense?
Makes sense to me. I now drop any standard CF and replace with leather or don't option CF
It's cleaner to me. My RS is mix of CF and leather but it's black and silver interior and seems to flow.
But to each his own. I would have never thought black/Bordeaux would look good in a SB car and it looks great and unique.
To my eyes - I agree with you on dropping the CF and switching it out for leather - but make sure Porsche knows to use the same leather - from the same skin and not a 2nd skin. Again, putting my designer cap on (www.facebook.com/thebradleyscott for reference - not a plug) - Skins have different colors because they are natural - not synthetic. Various reasons why skins soak up color differently - right down to the amount of protein in them. Thats why you often see an inexpensive leather jacket with the sleeves and the body appearing to be different shades - while a Versace or Armani leather jacket is so absolutely consistent.
In this picture - Shade 2 is much bluer than Shade 1. Shade 4 I know is Alcantara but is more yellow in tone than Shade 1 - and the CF is just a pattern that doesn't match 1 2 or 4.
Slightly OT... I have a 2016 with the red interior/black dash with red deviated stitching. The red on the seats is starting to look a bit worn on the side bolsters near the door. I am assuming it is somehow related to getting into/out of the car. I use the car as a DD so it gets a lot of use but wouldn't expect this at only 8k miles. Anyone else seeing their red start to fade/look warn?

My '14 TT with Espresso/Cognac natural leather has ~12k miles and the side bolster is just starting to show some wear even though I'm super careful getting in and out. This is why I opted for standard leather in Black/Bordeaux this time.
Hoping the standard leather is a bit more durable than natural leather.
Absolutely see the differences. Some is the lighting In my garage, some Is exposure to sunlight the pieces get or don't but most is that porsche puts some parts on during assembly and some in exclusive shop and I suspect some pieces come from one manufacturer and some from others. So yes differences. Not the same thing but I saw one set of platinum satin front S wheels being used to replace some badly damaged wheels totally differ from the factory rears. Porsche changed supplier and colors while coded the same were not. The fact that leather bits differ is no surprise to me but that doesn't mean it's not annoying.
As for the CF all I can say is after seeing some after market CF pieces from various places, Porsche's CF supplier is good but not that good...especially not for what they charge.
^^ I totally agree, and on my third glance - the navy blue trim between the dash and the door - I'd be interested to know why they chose to put that there. Do you see it?
Did anyone ever order a Black/Bordeaux interior with Midnight Blue? I have this selected for my 991.2 C2S but cant find any pictures where anyone has selected this, so starting to think I have terrible taste/am colour blind?
FWIW, my Porsche SA advised that the leather trim option for the dash (i.e. cup holder trim cover etc...) comes from the same hide as the leather that it's matched to. Has anyone else been advised of the same or different?

Hadn't heard that, but mine seems to be an excellent match.
I like the color of the standard aluminum trim in my black/bordeaux interior but the polished finish creates unpleasant reflections and glare at times. If you like silver color, consider brushed finish.
