Great advice. Thanks guys. I'm in no hurry so I'm not going to chase the dealer's offer here. If I do agree on a price I'm not signing any checks without a PPI. GTSs appear to be less rare than I'd previously thought.

I'd be content with an over rev report. If it was bounced off the limiter less than 20 times @10k miles it should be fine. You really can't hurt these cars. The electronics keep them in check otherwise porsche wouldn't stand behind there warranty.

^ If it was bounced off the rev limiter numerous times, I think it would be fine, that's the point of the limiter. It's the overrevs into abnormal ranges from missed shifts you need to worry about (not an issue with pdk) or driving the car hard while not properly warmed up which unfortunately is one of those areas that you just never know early on. But probably less of a concern for a car owned in warmer climates.

Don't worry about the breakin. That's just a US legal nonsense. Far more important is whether it was warmed up properly each trip, and whether those 10k miles were short or long trips.

I've done 18,000 miles in my GTS since May '15. Just. Any. Excuse. Seems like others have given some solid advice on the purchase so I'll just say damn is it a wonderful car

Not in Houston. OP would have to travel to get that deal.

Which, of he'S ok with a $110k sticker and a .2 car, I would certainly do.

You can ship a car from just about anywhere in this country for a grand or less. I know because I got my $26,000 discounted 2014 from Houston during the summer of 2015. Cost me $900 to get it shipped here in an enclosed trailer.

No need to be only shopping local when one is looking for a 991.

That's a good discount. It's just missing the two other letters on the back. Lol

Same with us. Bought from Suncoast for a 23% discount off of the $145k+ MSRP and had it shipped for $1200.

Worked for us. Local stealer sucking lemons and asking:
"Where's the loyalty?"
Me: "Where's my $30k+ discount?"

End of conversation....

There are big discounts to be had out there on all the models, even the uber rare, soon to be a collectors item GTS sticker kit model.

Now that you own it. Would you like it to drop 30k for the next owner? That is selfish motivation having nothing to do with reality.
I purchased my car brand new exactly 2 years ago. I see used cars with a similar build selling for about 10 to 15k below msrp. I didn't pay msrp. Received a really great discount. Ive use the car under its greatest condition and most affluent part of its life. If I were to sell it right now I think it did real well and much better than most. All cars will depreciate. This isn't the 50s ,60s Era. These cars are machine made and will never become classics.

Looking around as you guys suggested has led me to a bunch of cpo 991.1 GTSs. I have no issues buying the car unseen as long as Porsche certified it and the prices are much more reasonable than the non certified local car I mentioned. I'm going to work a few of these options. One question that's popped up is cars listed by non Porsche dealerships. Is there a way for me to get these cars certified by Porsche as part of the PPI process?

I think you're missing the point, Jimbo. There are deals to be had other there, new and used. All cars depreciate, I'm no fool when it comes to that.
Since when is getting a great deal, "selfish?" That's about the weirdest thing I've ever read!

If you custom order, you pay more. We picked a year old new car off the lot because we happened to love the configuration.
Best purchasing advice? Negotiate, negotiate, negotiate and pay as little as possible as we'll all take a bath on the resale....

I believe there are still a few new GTS sitting on dealer floors. I would probably be looking at one of those instead of a preowned ones. That's just me. I know a lot of you disagree but I would pay a little more for a new one if I were in the market.
