991.2 "Connect" very confusing.
from what i gather, the 'navigation" sim and the "connect plus" are two different services?
even the website to sign up for these are confusing as hell and have the feeling of "askjeeves" in 2002..
i would assume that each new 991.2 has 3 "monthly services"??
XM (thru XM)
Google nav (3 months free??)
Connect plus (12 months free??)
all i know is the factory nav screen is horrible and unsure why it cannot have grass and water like the old one did... instead has a bright white map that is VERY distracting..
going to have dealer try and explain but they aren't the sharpest crayons in the box.
how often do you guys use the apps... is it possible to have the google maps and such without the rest?

It is confusing. You may want to refer to this thread as a starting point.

There is an ATT website specifically for cars and the only way to add your car for $10/month.

BTW it's not an easy process and I have spent a lot of time researching and setting up my 991.2.
If really having problems PM me with a # and time to reach you and I will see what I can do but do read carefully the reference Thread as I tried to put everything I found out in those Posts.

mmm... Maybe I am not understanding this fully, but I DO get real time traffic information when I connect and use my IPhone as the data source.... are we talking about two different things? thanks

Look at my screenshot above...again on the right hand "pop out menu" above changing the map to google earth you can toggle real time traffic on or off.
You don't need your iPhone for real time traffic and its not that complicated.
Guessing I am the only one under 40 reading this thread lol.

Shortly after my 3 months of free Data ran out, I planed a route to an installer for a bit of custom work. I used my iPhone as a HotSpot and found that the route shown led me to acompletely blocked road. We dropped the car off overnight after finding our way around the block, I went on-line and established an ATT Data Plan to my ATT account. Checking route again when we picked up the car clearly showed the blocked road and a route avoiding the block.
Now I'm not under forty but clearly RTFM the manual!
I don't remember any difference in settings but when I next spend some time in the car, i plan to determine a route with both the Supplied SIM and using my iPhone as a HotSpot and look for differences.-Richard

i feel the 90 days 3GB doesnt last the full 90 days? seems smarter to add a sim to my at&t account and share my large phone data package w/ rollover versus pay 10$ for 1Gb a month
can anyone explain the steps to connect to your phones wifi?
bluetooth connected..
hotspot on.. but how do you get the pcm to connect to hotspot?

also a scam to have so many "subscription services" on a car... the google maps should be free, add the data for traffic and such..
