How many 991s with power kit?

Most people who got an X51 wanted GTS performance before the GTS was released. X51 was available in 2013.
Obviously some people knew the GTS would include the X51 and waited. Once the GTS came out, those adding X51 were literally down to near zero. Much cheaper bundled up in the GTS package.
For what it's worth. It's a worthy option as stand alone or in a GTS as a factory build.
I wouldn't add it as a non factory installed option unless it was dirt cheap. I've heard labor alone is like $5-6K to put one it. I'd have a hard time paying $5K for parts and install at this point!
Return on resale for the X51 is very low as well.

Quite unique that only the US versions got the X51. Pretty cool.

There is a stripper 4 GTS sitting at Main Line right now.

That is a very nice example of a C4 GTS. Nicely optioned IMO.
I did see this one out there, the only issue is the manual. After 30+ years of driving manuals I want the PDK. Especially in a car that's going to be doing some DD duty.

Off lease
Have you driven one with the power kit? It's not a huge difference in most cases--I believe that down low it actually has less torque than without. You need to get up in the RPMs to benefit from it. So on its own I don't think it's a key feature to look for.
As the others suggested, look for a GTS. Not easy to find, but probably easier than a C4 with powerkit, and the whole GTS package makes a lot more sense.
There is another thread here was discussing adding the powerkit after and it seemed like that was a bad path to take. The cost of the kit plus install was crazy, and you're left with something not done at the factory. The premium for a GTS would cover that cost plus include more perks from the GTS, and you wouldn't take a bath if you ever wanted to sell the Frankenstein result of rolling your own.
Someone did the numbers and it came out to about 25% of GTS cars were 4. Be patient and wait for cars to come off lease, some of them are bound to. It's just a bit early since most leases are 3 years and the GTS started in 2015.

As far as the RWD vs AWD, I know it's mainly in my head but I prefer the added security I feel with the AWD in the variable seasons we get up here.

Why not go 991.2? More power, tons more torque as a DD, and all the other new bits. Plus you can order one just how you like it.

I was going to wait and post a nice write up with pictures along the way but this thread prompted me to chime in now. I agree with almost everything said above and Lex & STG both have counseled me in the past year about adding the X51 kit after the fact. But I Ike my car and the options/colors a lot and am not a fan of Alcantara interiors or CL wheels (I swap summer to winter to track). So when Suncoast put the kit on sale again about 4 weeks ago, I contacted my local dealer about a "contract" install. They started on Mon the 5th and think it will take 40 hrs. Here is the engine removed. I plan to keep the car long term and after driving a GTS4 back in Aug (coupe and not optioned as nice as mine) I decided I really wanted the power kit. I felt the car drove much better actually "down low" at normal city driving speeds & conditions. It felt perfect to me, like the sport button wasn't needed! But when you do press it, wow! So stay tuned. And get what you want, Yolo!

So cool! Congrats. Power kit is the icing on the cake. While I would probably be happy with the norm. It just begs to have the best available. Kudos, let us know if you found any difference once you break her in.
