I'm shopping for a used 991. Does it seem like low inventory right now?
Perhaps its typical for this time of year and it will increase after the new year?

Yes, very low.
Follow Hot for Sale. Some nice ones pop up there. We've been discussing it. Last 6 months prices are holding strong and decreasing inventory. The pre-owned 991.1 market is hot.
If anything, things should be better now than spring. This is typically the slow season.

The inventory is very low on the West Coast---I think these points are impacting supply:
-Turbo vs NA----Many 911 owners have a strong opinion regarding NA being their engine of choice
-Price of New 991.2 is higher---
-Strong Economy (disposable income is up for many individuals)
-Porsche is really good at "managing" inventory levels to create "supply" shortages of new 991.2 so the used 991.1 is an easy choice
Cheers

About six weeks ago I was searching for a 4S and there seemed to be tons of .1s available around the country, leftover new as well as used. I couldn't find what I was looking for, but I thought there were lots of good cars out there at decent prices if I was looking for a .1 C2S.
Have you searched all the different online sites, as well as Porsche dealer inventory?

Now is the time to buy going into the winter except for warm climates. Dealers don't want to carry cars on their floor plans plus cars get punched sold to keep Porsche happy and they can be bought at significant discounts.

I'm torn between trying to get a .2 gt3, trading for something else (gt350 or grand sport) or just holding on to my 2012.5 991S which honestly is an amazing platform. While I doubt they'll see the love that the last air cooled ones have, it's nice to think they'll be properly appreciated being the last NA big engined 911's plus it's an amazing chassis.

Yup. There will never be appreciation in our .1 911's. Maybe someday, years from now, when we're all having wheelchair races in the rest home, they might stop depreciating in nominal dollar terms. But they will never appreciate in value.

Obviously nobody can say for sure. My guess is that you'll see depreciation flatten out in the next 5-10yrs and appreciation for good examples in 10-20 yrs. same for the 997.2's.
Last of the NA 991's will be and are desirable. No question about it. Someone in the future will dig up this post and prove me right. I'm still young, and hopefully stay healthy and am still here to see it.

That's so true. I watch Ferrari 360 prices since I've always wanted one, and nominal prices have stayed fairly constant (with some economy ups and downs). Porsche makes many times more 911s. Unless it's a super rare desired variant (maybe not even 911R, definitely not rennlist reunion), prices will always depreciate in the long run in real terms, especially if you include costs of storage vs holding sane assets. Drive it and enjoy it.
