A mouse eat my Backup camera wiring
This is funny and ironic ... I had my backup camera malfunction yesterday and I thought this must be a small issue with the camera itself. So I went to the dealer for inspection and they found traces of a mouse poo and bites around the area. The sad part is that porsche do not sell wiring harness in pieces and the co-axial wire for the backup camera is only part of the whole car wiring harness
the dealer kindly searched for remedy within VAG products and found a connector that may work between the cut and connect the co-axial wire.
Talk about the most expensive mouse bite ever
The harness itself would cost 6K$ if the connector didn't work ... that is not including labour work of replacing all harness ... I might just leave the camera off and move on lol.

Ouch. Hopefully they can splice. If not, find someone who knows electronics well, the should be able to.

Repairing the damage could turn out to be the least of your problems if you can't figure out a way to keep the rodents from returning to your car when you bring it home.
Lots of recommendations on how to do this on the interweb. Good luck. And get a cat.

lol thanks guys. The funny part is that I have like a dozen cats around the house which I didn't plan to raise initially but they are kinda part of the house now. Yet this happens.
I am kinda skeptical that this might actually be a kitten not a mouse. The technician said he saw mouse feces. I didn't. and apparently the traces on the dusty intake shown claws .. now I think of it, It actually might be a kitten.

It's rodents, not cats. My son had wires in his Acura chewed through by squirrels. Apparently manufacturers are using vegetable-based (soy) coatings on wires in an effort to increase biodegradability. It's a known problem.

One of the advices on the intwerwebs is to keep dog/cat food away from cars. That is really funny since I assume the rodent should've eaten that food instead of a soy wire lol.

WOW Sorry to hear.
This makes me want to place some bait food containers in the garage to get them before they get me.

Wife's Cayman had a Check Engine Light come on...rodents chewed through a wire and damaged a few others. My 88 911 had the front oil cooler rubber air dam chewed up...it was only about two years old. Parking outside sucks.

I had an ongoing battle with Pack-Rats chewing my telephone wiring, which ran in a small crawl space under my summer home. It was odd it was only the telephones wires they liked, maybe soy based insulation as noted above? I ended up putting in a metal conduit run to protect the wires.
