The OP should test the 14-ways before swapping their 18-way seats. I am of average build, 5 11 and 175 lbs. Wear a 42 suit. I had the 14-ways in my Boxster. They were extremely uncomfortable for my frame. My shoulders were outside the tapered seatback and the edges used to dig into my shoulder blades. I have the 18-ways in my 911. I have the bolsters completely flat and I fit comfortably inside the seat backs. Much better seats for me. If you are a large person, both the 14-ways and the 18-ways will dig into your back.
I found that when I got my car I didn't know if I was going to be comfortable in the 14 way seats. I was really concerned about this because I plan to take the car on extended drives, etc. I found that the shoulder level side bolsters that were digging into my shoulder blades stopped doing so when I adjusted the seat back angle a bit. Turns out, the way I thought I wanted the seat back adjusted was making the seats dig into my shoulders. With the seat back angle properly adjusted, this problem disappeared OP, try this before swapping out your seats. It's free and easy!
Going from 18s to 14 I was doubtful, but I must say now that 14 way seat for street driving is as if not more comfortable than 16. I can happily live with either.
I went from base to sport plus for the same reasons as noted above. the wings on the sport plus / 18 ways are better for my shoulders. although now I have LWBs in my GT4.

Did you source the seats and upgrade your existing car or check the box on a new car to do it? If the former, how??

at first I bought a pair of recaro seats and put them in, but couldn't get the airbag light fixed, so I put the stock seats back in and traded it in on one with the seats I wanted. That's the beauty of buying used, you don't lose as much as selling a brand new car after a year.
