Default swap 18-way seats for 14-way

I've got a 991s in mind at a dealer that meets all my specs. The car has the 18-way adaptive sports seats. The thing is I'm not so sure about these, I think I prefer the 14-way with easier ingress/egress.

Technically it should be very easy to swap 18" to 14" seats?

Seriously, I ordered so I could choose either one. I'm thinnish (6', 180) but the upper back bolsters on the 18s pinched my shoulders. I'd had "Sports Seats" in both a 986 and a 996TT, and they did the same thing. It was something that became uncomfortable after 15 minutes in the car for me.

Obviously, everybody's body is constructed differently, but for me the 18s and the 4s were uncomfortable and the 14s fit nicely.

these are all entertaining responses.... but....
the question remains......

Is it technically easy to swap the seats?

I suspect yes, they probably bolt in the same, and the connector likely the same as well, probably just a 12v hookup.

Somebody on this forum wrote the best words on the difference between these two seats:

14-way: you sit ON them

18-way: you sit IN them

Porsche should fire everyone responsible for their 991 (non-bucket) seating options and start from scratch.

Sounds good in theory but I have the 18-ways and I sit ON them because the bolsters are too tight from mid-way down my back to my upper thighs. I'm 5' 11" 185lbs.

That was me. And the more I drove my cars, one of each, the more I disliked the 14 ways. I never felt like my back was really in the seat at all. For me, the 18 ways would be the only option. Actually, I prefer the 4 way Sport Seats Plus even more. Similar shape to the 18 ways, but they feel even more accommodating. Like them slightly more than the 18ways in my Spyder, though they lack lumbar and thigh support.

Now, in the Porsche SUV's the 14 ways are totally different and would definitely be the seat I'd spec in that vehicle.

Same here. The side bolsters on the 18 Ways squeeze my legs together uncomfortably.

I ordered the 18 way for my GTS without sitting in them. While I was awaiting delivery I sat in one and thought oh no, I have made a mistake. After I got it however and played around with the bolstering, I think they are great. many have said the best car seats ever.

I assume you know those bolsters are adjustable, right?

I asked a coworker who has swapped his out. He said its very easy. 4 Torx bolts and one power connector plug for each seat. He estimated 15 mins per seat.

Amazing. You're a big guy and I can't believe that you find these seats comfortable. After sitting in at least a dozen 991.2 variants over the past few months, plus reading lots of feedback I'm left with a single conclusion: These 18-ways are being built with sizing tolerances that are too great, maybe +/- 2".

Sorry OP for not helping to address your question. Best bet to call dealer service for definitive answer.

Yes. I jumped back and forth several times between 14 and 18. Played with all the adjustments because I think the 18s are cooler and I wanted to get them but they just are not comfortable for me.
