I went back and forth with the decision you're confronting. The aesthetic side of me wanted 20s. The logical side (I drive the car 4 seasons in downtown Chicago) wanted the 19s. Cost wasn't the main factor. Like you, I considered making the standard 19s into my winter wheel and purchasing aftermarket rims for summers. I eventually did the 19s for both. Victor has a nice selection of 19s to choose from. They're pretty reputable. I bought them through my dealership and had them special ordered. The Exchange stocks and offers multiple Victor options for snows, but didn't stock the Badens

I wonder if anyone has switched from 20s to 19s.

I read something somewhere that many trackers switch to 18's and 19's, so I am eager to see any responses, too.

Here is a set on craigslist. I was going to purchase but found a winter setup with carrera classics instead.
They might still be available.

I have 20" Carrera Classic summers on my 991.2 Targa. Last month I put on 19" standard wheels as my winter set-up. I have not noticed much difference in ride comfort or performance, but aesthetically the 20" are way better. If cost is not an option get some nice 20" wheels and do the 19" as a winter set up.

I too am a fan of 19's. I am considering a second set of stock wheels for winter tires. My research shows some confusing changes in specs from 991.1 to 991.2:

Fronts
991.1 19x8.5 with 54mm offset
991.2 19x8.5 with 50mm offset

Rears
991.1 19x11 with 69mm offset
991.2 (as delivered with summer tires) 19x11.5 with 76mm offset
991.2 (as part of winter tire set) 19x11 with 77mm offset

So the .2 cars have an extra half inch of rear wheel width, except in the winter tire set (which comes with the same 295 section tires as the summer rubber on the car).

Of course, there could be a typo in the specs I was looking at.

Also so, swapping wheels from .1 to .2 models means small (up to 8mm) changes in offset. Has anyone tried this?

Yes, I haven't tried it but was told it would work.

Well, thanks for that. I've seen a few posts from your company and went again to your website. For me, your website is impossible to navigate. The most I can do is look at photos of rims on cars. I can't see rim sizes nor pricing. When I shop on-line, I don't want to see "call a salesman for pricing". I want to see a configurator that shows your rims on a 911. Tirerack's website has a rudimentary car that will show their rims on your model. At least do that. Or use Unity Web Player to wow your customers.

Anyway, I won't be calling to discuss what rim might fit, going back to see how it might look on my car by a picture that was taken in 20" or 21" sizes, and negotiate price, etc.. It's too much like work.

Ive switched to 19's simply because i like the sport classic wheel and the ride is nicer. I was concerned how the wheel gap would look and its fine (I really cant tell)

Those look great. I was thinking maybe I could get those but paint the black in a silver color to match my paint. Where did you get them/pricing?
