Must have been cool to see one in person. I can still look at a car that i think is overpriced and like it without letting the price sway eyes.

Btw, I think you were on roadfly way back. The E46 M3 was the only car I paid over for and it was maybe $1k but I wrung every ounce of it out of that chassis!
Wow! I was on Roadfly way back when you had to be on a waiting list for the e46 M3. Got the first SMG at my dealer. Great track car! Was sad to see Roadfly implode with their silly censorship.

Ah, the good ole days!
The E46 was tough but nothing compared to the craziness when the Elise hit these shores. Even worse than that was my 95 Cobra R. Couldn't buy one without a race license and Ford sold them all to existing teams.

I remember going to test drive an '87 930 Turbo from a guy who was more a BMW guy; he had an E46 328i Sport Pack but had an order in on the soon-to-be-released E46 M3. When would that have been? 2001? I don't think I've ever met anybody so excited about an incoming car! I wound up passing on the Turbo.

Why build a car like that since none are ever going to get driven.

If I had the money -I'd buy one and daily drive the crap out of it just to buck the system. haha

My office is about 10 min from this dealer so might stop by and lick it ;-) Why so much hate on the R? :-(

BTW, any Houston folks going to tejas treffin? I'm driving the night blue 991.2. Hope to see you there!

We love the R. But why build the "ultimate modern driver's 911" that won't get driven? They should instead do something like Aston did with their GT and make a driver oriented car with a pretty set list of options. Price it at 110K and call it a day.

Manual - no electronic nannies or helpers - 3.8 engine - wide body - RWD - base radio - 18 way seats. Done.

I very much agree with the sentiment, a la 92 RS America. Buy that car didn't have the exotic motor. It was a totally stock 964 3.6.

Crazy price but love the car. I'm keeping my left nut in good kit, just in case prices someday to drop to that range.

Do I understand this correctly? You are going to trade in your left nut for an R?

If it would get me an R, i'd snip it myself. But I don't think my ball can be CPO'd, so I'm not holding my breath.

Amen and hallelujah brother STG, but you missed the part that no one other than an emir in Dubai would pay that kind of money and drive it anyway. It's not a car, it's an investment, part of the portfolio.
