It's on both sides of my rear windshield only. Strangely, no problem up front.

Speak to your SA. My SA told me he did not know what is causing the rubber to break down. The only way to fix it is by removing the glass and the old sealant and weather stripping. I was also informed the dealership would not pay for my tint since it's aftermarket. They will need to remove the glass and repair my front and rear seals around the glass. If they damage the glass, I get a new windshield. Good luck.

I drove my car in and had it inspected. The SA informed me I was the second customer to report the same issue. Needless to say I have a scheduled appointment for the 28th to drop my car off and have the issue repaired under warranty, plus a loaner. I will keep you posted on the outcome.

On Monday I had a scheduled appointment with my local dealer to have the front and rear windows replaced at no cost. I was just informed the service was completed today. I will follow up tomorrow with pictures and quality of workmanship. BTW I received a new 2017 Cayenne as a loaner.

I picked up my car this morning and must add the windshield and rear window were replaced flawlessly. I asked that the car not be washed, so please forgive the appearance. If you have an issue with the rubber seals breaking down around the glass it can't hurt to call your SA. In closing, Porsche does not have a recall for this problem. Next of my list, window tinting, again. Good luck.
BTW: Here are the item numbers if anyone is interested.
1. 991-541-911-06 Windshield
2. 9A7-955-609-00 Adhesive Film
3. 991-545-911-00 Rear Window

I have the same issue as well on my 991.2 I noticed it right away and figured it was just normal wear on the sealant. I too will take it in for further inspection. Thanks for heads up!

This is abnormal. They don't know what is causing the rubber to break down. The rubber on my car was sticky and almost gummy. Porsche of North America is aware of the problem. If your dealer gives you a hard time, just call PCNA. If your windows are tinted, the dealership will not cover the cost of the tint.

Most of the pictures posted look like the windshields are missing the little rubber gasket/seal exposing the adhesive holding the glass in place.

My 2012 S has lived every day of its 1,797 days outside.
My seals look great. Thankfully.
Heat, detailing chemicals, bad batches of seals, all of the above?

Hi,
I’ve got a 2015 991 GTS and have the same issue on both front and rear windscreens. I live in Hong Kong. Dealer has been helpful so far but Porsche (China) refuses to have the windscreens and seal repaired under warranty.
For those who experienced the same problem, is there any official reply (email or letter) from Porsche NA regarding this “known” issue?
I’m trying to gather more cases and ask Porsche China why they have a different standard and quality of service from the rest of the world.
Many thanks in advance.
