Is there anything special you have to do before charging through your cigarette lighter?

Can you keep the maintainer in the car or trunk during outdoor winter storage?

So I've plugged in the trickle charger this week and again I ask, why do folks choose to smash their seals by shutting the passenger door, instead of going through the window?

Is the concern about critters getting into the car? I shut my window so tight the cable barely sits on top of it, another couple millimeters and it would press against the seal so I'm certain nothing is getting in or out...

Discuss!

My Porsche charger has a much-much thinner cord that that one. I want the door and window sealed tight becuase I use desiccant during winter hibernation.

My guess is that folks just don't want the cord resting against their paint job. I don't really see any other reason...unless you've got a short cord...but then again, that's a personal problem.

I thought every Porsche trickle charger comes with a short cord, hence the nice car to make up for it!

In my case, the garage is sad, the cord is of average length, but the car sure is nice, which is the focal point.

And only on a Porsche forum would folks complain about a cable touching their paint job!
In my case, I also have full XPEL so no concerns there, whatever those might be.

LexVan raises a good point that disinfectants/other fumes could make their way in.

I think he was saying he puts a moisture removing device inside the vehicle, so he wants it as air tight as possible to control the environment inside the vehicle so that can work properly.

A dehumidifier? This is getting more interesting by the minute. And what might the purpose of that be?

I have about 10 pounds of silica bead desiccant. I put some in the frunk, too. I "recharge" it every other year by baking it in my oven for about 4-6 hours at low heat (250ish).

I have my tender wired to my battery, wire comes up through the battery cover and out the back. Wire never touches paint, and windows and frunk remain closed.

Alright, Rumble Bee is fully charged!
From what I have read, this trickle charger is to stay plugged and Bee will "eat pollen" as needed.

Can you guys confirm that this is indeed the case?

Oh and I solved the problem with the cord touching the paint!
