Default Intro: So we bought this car

My wife and I have been talking about buying a stick shift convertible for 10 years or so , mostly when we are on vacation. Last one we had was in 89, a Fiat 124 Spider. Last year we got more serious about it and starting pointing them out on the road. I've always liked Porsches but never thought I'd own one. I'm drawn to the looks of the Boxster so I'd point them out to my wife and she would point out the 911's to me. I explained to her that a 911 is a serious performance sports car not just a put put for around town. Didn't matter to her. I was visiting my friend and neighbor and asked to see his 2012 GTS. He took me for a ride and asked if I wanted to drive. I got behind the wheel, drove for a short time, then said, "I'VE GOT TO GET ONE OF THESE". Started seriously shopping and found our car.
It's a 2012 911S Cabriolet Mt. It's pretty well appointed, a lot of abbreviations, and Sport Crono. I drank the Kool Aid, and I want more. We bought the car in mid June as a third car and have already put over 5000 miles on it. As an example, our favorite pizza shop is about 5 miles from home in the next town. Now it's 38 miles, 5 towns and in and out of 1 state. Can't drive the car enough, any excuse will do. I've been reading this forum daily, have joined PCNA, Ct Valley region and may look into autocrossing.

Congratulations! I know just how you feel about wanting to drive the car. What's great about it is that it's a fantastic car for just puttering around town, on the track or anything in between. Especially happy you got the MT!

It's a beauty!

I also had a few Spiders - 3 in all. You won't be throwing the top back in the same manner, but that's about all one could say.

Some of the best times I have in my 991 cab are with my wife, top down (on the cab) going on a date.

Beautiful car. Welcome! Is that Porsche of Warwick? Showroom looks familiar. Great folks there.

Yeah I had the same experience. Drove the 991 and immediately had the "I gotta have one" grin. My 997 went up for sale the next day.

Yes it is Warwick. Kirk is a great salesman. I mean that in a positive way. He's a car guy, and has excellent brand knowledge. The guys in service and the mechanics are also terrific.
